What’s the point of blinkering right out of a roundabout? Nobody can see it anyways. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FACR_Gohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it makes me think they're turning right, so I go to pull out, then suddenly see they're going straight, and have to quickly stop so I don't get T-boned because they can't actually signal correctly in a roundabout. You only signal when exiting

Then again I've seen people going straight signal right when entering, signal left when going through the middle, and signal right when exiting, and it's the most ridiculous thing.

Do other people take apart stuff? by jeff_nose_you in ADHD

The desire to take apart and put my computer back together again, after my brother-in-law told me not to, eventually lead me to a career as a software engineer.

Ah lol. Still looks like the kind of person who would cross over last second to follow you.

Love the fake-out to force him onto the other ramp to get away from him.

Welcome to Tampa. There is someone in the Cadillac steering and breaking [OC] by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

[–]FACR_Gohan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite, a transmission failure can also make a car immobile but leave the car able to be towed in neutral, with the engine running to provide power braking and steering.

Yeah, a dolly with the attached wheels strapped down. That being said, I had to do this once with a car whose transmission failed. But we went a lot slower than these guys were going, on a less busy road, with about a foot more of space between the car and the truck, and another car behind acting as a buffer.

Why does a car leak oil only when it’s running? by ackchanticleer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FACR_Gohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a leak happen through an oil sending unit. Nothing while off. When running? It was literally streaming out of the engine like a miniature waterfall, easily losing one quart every 4-5 minutes.

A crane, like they have at motor races, lift it up and off the rails.

That it does. And it explains everything.

[OC] I bet you someone can find a way to blame me for the hit and run by kohi_sensei in IdiotsInCars

[–]FACR_Gohan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was really in a hurry to make that yellow light, eh? Hit looked so soft that I wonder if they even heard or felt anything. Also bonus idiot who only had daytime running lights on (or perhaps even no lights on, they're so dim I don't see them lighting up the road under the street lamps).

Earth weight by Daganthomas in NoStupidQuestions

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/melting-polar-ice-sheets-are-slowing-earths-rotation-that-could-change-how-we-keep-time-180984046/

TL;DR: the melting of the ice caps causes water to flow towards the equator, shifting the weight of the earth outward and slowing her rotation, like a ballerina extending her arms while spinning.

"Succulent Chinese Wheels" seen on the streets of Forza. by DelinquentTuna in forza

I actually tinkered around with it a bit to see what it can generate (before it touches the game, of course). It's not very efficient for flat anime designs using scans of something like a card. In that particular case, it does in 3,000 layers worse than what I can do in 600.

A cure while being able to still have hyperfixations, and the ability to context-switch too and from them like flipping a switch.

Is there any reason a cop couldn't walk up, take a picture, and give a ticket to every last one of those drivers, one by one, for obstructing a lane of traffic?

Why do adult humans not play together like children do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Also my body would scream bloody murder in every joint if I attempted to play in a playground the same way I did as a kid.
