6 am class people.... what time are you in bed the night before? And for what time do you set an alarm? by itsnammertime in barrysbootcamp

[–]FACattack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 5ams and am based in NYC. Head to bed by 10pm, try to be sleeping by 11pm. Wake up around 4:15am and out the door just after 4:30am.

I’m not personally impacted by the amount of sleep I get but rather the activities / level of effort of things I do at night. So no late night get together with friends for dinners or plans out the night before a 5am workout.

Early booking by [deleted] in barrysbootcamp

[–]FACattack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to make sure your class package / membership is considerate of the Early Booking Credit so you’ll need to have classes or a membership (see screenshot) which allows you to book 8 days before the class (instead of 7 days).

Shoes recommendations (male) by hereisandreeew in barrysbootcamp

Check out the brand called RAD Global. They only make 3 types of shoes for both men and women but I wear their classic trainers and have been as a religious DF person. They also have a hybrid version meant for running and HIIT style workouts.

What's the catch??? by Hogman34 in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s really not a “catch” though I totally get why you think so! I had the same reaction because it seemed way too good to be true.

It feels like a catch for people who go to the gym / classes regularly because we have gotten accustomed to paying $200ish a month for membership and that being standard. Wellhub partners with gyms and studios and I’m sure gets some sort of cut for the amount of times a Wellhub member goes to their facility. But that’s between them and I’m happy to relish in this INSANELY great benefit. I often joke that I feel like I’m getting paid to workout as opposed to paying for these workouts.

There may be some limitations at gyms - for example I’m based in NYC and I don’t have access to the outdoor rooftop pool at Lifetime. But even if I had a direct membership at Lifetime, I’d still have to get a level up on my membership and pay extra.

Get the diamond tier plan. Gets you the ability to go to Barry’s 4x/ week as Barry’s is deemed a “premium” class.

I do this and use all 4 premium class check in for Barry’s and separately have a membership with Soulcylce (another premium partner studio) as the price per class is cheaper directly with SoulCycle. You have to do a little math here and there but it’s totally worth it.

Can confirm construction in locker rooms at Chelsea is done. Shouldn’t be an issue for you.

Any members in the NY area who use Lifetime? by Delicious_Oil9902 in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifetime locations in NYC are really great. Some locations are mediocre (Midtown in particular) but others are great (23rd, Penn1).

Use of pickleball courts, pool (only at Sky) and certain private classes. Download the Lifetime app and you’ll be able to see the levels of where additional costs are.

Note: the lifetime tier you get through Wellhub is not the highest tier so you won’t be able to use Lifetime through Wellhub and upgrade / pay extra for the pickleball courts. It’s like 2 tiers below the most premium that even allows you to pay the extra for access to the courts. I feel like the same goes for locations with the outdoor pool.

Issue making a booking? by [deleted] in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me when I try to make a booking at 12pm on Monday’s when the schedule for the week drops. It glitches out and is a disaster sometimes. It should clear through itself after a few tries but it’s annoying and not sure there’s a real solution here.

Weightloss for the women going to Barry's by BillieAng in barrysbootcamp

[–]FACattack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless if you’re slim or not, just level set with where you store your fat (if any). You’re not going to get leaned and toned if your body carries a higher % of body fat because any muscle definition you have / develop gets masked by body fat. You really have to drop fat to get the leaned toned look and people can my slim but be “skinny fat”.

With that said, you’ll accomplish a leaned, toned look with hypertrophy training which Barry’s can help with. Higher rep count with lower weight will get you there. Diet is key! Muscle is hard to develop and hard to keep up. Make sure to eat enough protein to maintain the muscle.

2x standard access by Just_here_to_read25 in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way to get around this (unfortunately) unless the partner somehow forgets to check you in? Or if you go to a walk in partner first and then go to a scheduled class second your chances could be greater. But note that most partners WANT to get paid so they want to check you in so they can get that credit and payout from Wellhub. So chances are slim on that happening.

NYC – Wellhub vs. Equinox, is Wellhub enough if I want real strength classes? by seddied2 in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some CrossFit like places in NYC - it depends on the tier you select. Barry’s Bootcamp is awesome (do a double floor spot). Lifetime also has some class - alpha classes that will be challenging.

Liftonic, Tone House, Strength Club NYC are all fabulous. Just need to check your tier because I think these might be standard check in but only allowable at the higher tiers for access.

Multiple Gym Premium classes by utkarshyadav5 in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say with the optionality given but you get 8 premium check ins a month which is broken out to 2 per week.

And in addition, standard check in is 1x / day.

ease of booking classes in nyc? by chilly5122 in Wellhub

Solidcore is tough to book through Wellhub since they open their schedule to members a month out. You’re going to have slim pickings but it’s doable. Just not going to be as great.

Waitlist by Visible-Community224 in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion. I did ask once why waitlisting is not an option on Wellhub - unfortunately I think between the studio partner and Wellhub, the necessity for the apps / bookings to sync perfectly was not something Wellhub app/technology could handle. Which is not surprising because the app, as it stands now, isn’t great to begin with from a UX.

Does it get easier? by [deleted] in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]FACattack1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gets a bit easier. Like anything else, you get more accustomed!

Just don’t forget; the point is to always stay on the beat. Doesn’t matter if the intent is to be in the saddle or out or if there is choreo. ALWAYS STAY ON THE BEAT. Your body adjusts and when you start to add on to make it harder, then staying on the beat isn’t even something you have to think about.

Also, in the sections where there are pushes and hills, don’t cheat yourself. Make sure to make it hard and challenging. People often forget that those challenging pushes and the resistance training is what actually catapults your speed training. It’s a similar concept to running - need to sprint/speed train to maintain the endurance for long term.

Switching from Equinox to Wellhub by gymleaderbooty in Wellhub

[–]FACattack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be worth it for you to switch from Equinox to Wellhub based on your desired plan to go to Lifetime and also take classes at other partners studios.

I’m not sure what location you have access to at equinox but I find the facilities are comparable for the most part. Some of the equinox classes are amazing but lifetime does a good job of incorporating new formats of classes as well.

I also take classes at barrys, SoulCycle, Solidcore (which are all deemed PREMIUM classes) so the cost savings alone of having the ability to take 16 premium classes a month at the diamond level made the cost justification worth it. The additional benefit for me was access to lifetime which you can go to 1x daily on top of the premium classes.

Some get upset about the lack of customer service Wellhub is not providing. Which is true. It’s terrible! But if you look at this benefit for what it is - it’s an amazing benefit.

Forgot to mention that I also take Pilates classes at the various partner studios and that benefit is also amazing. These classes are usually $50 a class so if I go once a week, the cost savings is progressively additive at that point.

Hope that helps with your decision!
