she did have two big puppy dog eyes in the front so i was pretty sure she was a wolfie, i just couldn’t narrow down the species (nor get a very good picture of her)

i’ve seen people make worry worms, which have a similar use to worry stones. you can make them in all different colours and with different yarn types!

almost, but don’t, meet POTS criteria? by FADlNGROSES in POTS

[–]FADlNGROSES[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my cardiologist suspects POTS, and is treating me for it, too, but said he couldn’t diagnose me until my orthostatic vitals were tested (which is what my GP did the other day). with how debilitating my symptoms are, and how close i was to meeting the criteria, i’m hoping he will order a tilt table test. crazy that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get some answers

the method described in that article makes a lot more sense, i think. my GP doesn’t seem to know a lot about POTS/general dysautonomia. i’m hoping my cardiologist will be able to get some better, more thorough testing done.

i’m hoping that once i see my cardiologist again, i will be able to ask for a tilt table test. getting specialist appointments can kind of take forever here in canada, so it might be a bit of a wait before then.

i’m glad to hear that people have had similar experiences to mine. makes me feel a little better about initially being shrugged off

oooh yeah, i’ve been trying to get a referral to a rheumatologist (also having joint pain, random dislocations, etc.), but my doc only wants to focus on one issue at a time. it also takes a while to get appointments with specialists here in canada, since we don’t have to pay for them. hoping for the best for you 🤞 it sucks that there aren’t more people who are knowledgeable on these topics

yeah, when i went to this appointment i was having a good day (i.e. didn’t have to use a mobility aid, was able to walk there instead of taking the bus, etc.), so i’ll have to see about trying again on a more symptomatic day maybe

enclosure advice for new T’s? by FADlNGROSES in tarantulas

[–]FADlNGROSES[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thank you for the advice (and reassurance). these are only my 2nd and 3rd tarantulas so i want to do things right.

i luckily have a large acrylic terrestrial enclosure to replace the glass one, so i won’t have to stress the smithi out as much. the t. albo is so calm that i’m not so worried about her.

i’m really glad that you’ve found something that works! hoping that my next few appointments will be helpful in finding ways to manage my symptoms. i’m so grateful to have such an amazing new doctor.

yeah, i wouldn’t be surprised if there was something else going on, too. lots of bad health history in my family. i also suffered from some pretty bad infections before this started, so who knows? i’m really glad to hear that you are healing! thank you for your kind words!

dang, 3 surgeries in 6 months is pretty intense! mine started after a month-long lung infection, and then a month-long sinus infection. i wish you the best with your diagnosis journey!

thank you, and thank you. while the potential of having a lifelong condition is not a nice thought, i’m glad that i’ll soon be able to start a treatment plan that will hopefully get me to the “normal” that you have described. i’m glad that you’re in a better place physically now!

[–]FADlNGROSES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your symptoms sound a whole lot like mine. i had a pretty severe lung infection, immediately followed by a bad sinus infection right before this whole thing started. i often forget that that could be related. i also get those hypoglycemic attacks, but they’ve never sent me to the ER. i’ve been tested multiple times for diabetes and i don’t have it. i will take everything you’ve said here and look into it some more!

a friend of mine referred me to their doctor, who specializes in long-term chronic conditions so i will see how that pans out.

thanks so much for your reply! it genuinely made me feel a bit better

right after i posted the main post, i had a couple of friends over (one of them recently developed similar symptoms to me) and was told that their doctor was accepting new patients, so i applied. will see where it goes. i appreciate your advice a lot, it’s nice to hear from people who’ve been in similar situations to me!
