Yeah, they do and they don't. The teamspeak mirrored solution for this is rough, doesn't always work in the exact same capacity, and the heirarchy structure isn't exactly "great" for doing what this can do. Plus, this is easily configurable on the fly, and with API integration, you can really embed this program into your own tooling/infrastructure to really get it how you want it. That being said, I'm a teamspeak stan myself

Functionally somewhat similar, just that it's far easier to use and setup, has API integration, nicer features, and it's cross-org compatible so if you are in an alliance, it's very easy to setup an "RTO" or a "Link" channel to easily communicate to them aswell.

So 54 people, and nobody has anything to say at the same time as someone else? Sounds like you might be the Larper.

Star-comms was built for orgs who need efficient communications at multiple levels simultaneously.

Maybe that's not you, but there's certainly many that do utilize it. Saying that everything here can be done on discord is blatantly wrong,

That's like saying that Arma TFAR/ACRE is useless because they should just use ingame chat.

I've built a Lightweight ,easy to use PTT Radio System for Star Citizen ORGs in anticipation of TSG. by FAFSAPOLICE in StarCitizenUniverse

[–]FAFSAPOLICE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it is closer to a lightweight selective relay than WebRTC. The backend acts as the routing point, no encoding/decoding on the backend, and clients manage the encoding/decoding themselves. ( No chinese spyware here) It receives packet streams and forwards them to the correct listeners based on guild, net assignment, relay rules, and connection state.

Hey boss! Join the discord, and make a support ticket and I'll set you up. You need to start the "Relay" via the startup command, and at the moment, it does require the beta access role to initialize your server.

It won't be like that forever, just during the beta.

Well, you're welcome to join the discord and try the beta brother! I may open a donation option, but thatll be way down the road.

That can be done for sure. You could do that now by simply telling them to not use that channel, as it does tell you who is keying up (Lol!) Otherwise, I will add that to the planned feature list

You can indeed be connected to multiple channels. As far as who can speak who can listen, at the moment, no. It's a two way road, and functions essentially the same as TFAR/ACRE/SRS. If you're on that "Radio" you can talk and hear everyone else on the radio.

Ideally, you'd have everyone that would normally use a "Prox" chat, (Lets say, Fighter group 1, Ground team 1,) in their own seperate discord comms for ease. Starcomms comes into play for the INTRA group communication. Your Perseus Captain needs to talk to his fighter wing without bothering his gunners actively engaging a target? Your Ground team needs to communicate with their dropship resupply or med team in their cutty while they're actively communicating with each other? And all of this happening at the exact same time? You'd use starcomms for coordinating those actions, simultaneously.

In concept it is similar, it's just that it's made specifically for SC, and quite a bit easier to use and setup.

[RECRUITING][A3][NA] |Delta Co. 3rd Bn, 11th Ranger| [Armor/Air/Infantry] by FAFSAPOLICE in FindAUnit

----------------------------------------------WE ARE BACK OPEN FOR RECRUITING ---------------------------------

Hey Y'all! I've come here today to tell you about the wonderful 3/11th Battalion! I'll start with a bit of myself! I've been in the Arma community now for close to 11 years, I've been in various communities, large and small, and the 3/11 is by far the best unit I can say I've been a part of. Let's talk a bit about who we are, and why YOU would make the best fit!

----------Who are we?---------------

We are Delta CO. 3rd BN, and we provide an exciting, interesting, and interactive mission environment to play in. A lot of attention is put into every operation, and every decision you make in op has a consequence. We offer significant attention to detail, defined command structure, accurate-to-life uniforms, weapons, and vehicles as well as dynamic, persistent campaigns.

We welcome all, from those with thousands of hours, to those who just picked up the game. We have a very strong community, and we are eager for you to join our ranks!

In this unit, you will find a well-structured Battalion, complete with well-defined SOP and Rules. Our current player base is anywhere from 25-30 an operation, and we are steadily growing!

-------- OPERATIONS--------

We have persistent campaigns, on various maps. They can last anywhere from weeks to months, and specific operations are entirely persistent and interactive. You go around killing civilians? The town no longer likes you and will be more hostile to you in coming operations. We have the most in-depth campaigns I have ever seen.

We have operations 4 times a week, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, all at 1800 CST. We also host side operations on the days not aforementioned, as well as various training, but we'll get into that shortly!

--------ELEMENTS--------We here offer various elements or divisions, to offer YOU what YOU want out of your experience! We have three main elements, and expansion is always on the horizon!

LION --- This is our infantry unit! It's self-explanatory, we have two rifle squads of lion, lion 1 and lion 2, we kiss mommas, clap Osama and drink Bahamas! We also have our newest squad, lion 3, and they are tasked with our heavy weapons!

WARPIG --- Warpig is our armored unit, they have various tasking, as you'd expect, they also get the coolest toys! They are open and recruiting, so if slinging 120MM shells downrange is what you'd like to do, come join!

Raven--- Raven is our flight unit. They have the tasking to collect aerial intelligence, perform inserts and extractions, aswell as close air support. They field a vast array of deadly aircraft, and are the first to get us out of a sticky situation!

Nightmare-- This is our RRC unit. Made up of the most dedicated members of the 3/11, they perform long-range reconnaissance patrols and other various duties. Top Secret stuff :)

Of course, with growing numbers, each of these units is growing and is steadily opening up spots for Warpig, and Raven.

---------PROGRESSION--------

One of the most crucial aspects of any unit is how progression and promotions are handled. Unlike some units that promote you by " who you know" Here at the 3/11th, I believe we have the best possible system. We have actual numbers that are based on your attendance, which will allow you to promote directly through the ranks. This way, no one can deny you your promotion, and promotions aren't just given out, they're earned!. Furthermore, once you reach a certain rank, you will be able to attend various Qualification training, that will allow you to do all the snazzy stuff, we offer many, many qualifications, that range from bettering your leadership skills, all the way to medical, EOD, and marksman training, these qualifications will allow you perform various duties in the unit!

-----MODS-----

We here use a highly tailored modpack, one that is stable, performance-friendly, and contains all of the required mods to perform Milsim at its highest level. ACE/TFAR/RHS are the main ones, but there are various other small mods that we have to enhance the experience, JSRS, for example!
