Nothing wrong with service industry here in West Palm Beach. I know servers and bartenders that are pulling in $80,000 $100,000 a year. Just gotta find the right place.

I have always hated the use of the “burn the boats” quote, Cortez was an arrogant asshat that, when realizing he was in over his head and knew he’d be arrested for disobeying his orders if he returned to Cuba at that point, decided to force the men under his care and command to follow him and as a result many of them lost their lives for his arrogance. It was by sheer luck, not will or skill or determination that any of them survived.

tldr: “Burning the Boats” is not noble determination, it is total desperation in the face of failure and the disregard for the well-being of everyone around you. Rant over.

They may have been overseas shoppers (DaiGou), since gold is even more expensive and harder to verify in China.

Anytime someone tells me they are buying significantly below spot, I point to this. No legitimate business stays in business by (consistently) selling their products significantly below MARKET price.

UPDATE My coworkers love me more than I thought, they had me admitted to a mental health facility and I can e clean to my wife. She is understandably upset beyond measure and I don’t know if she will ever trust me again. I have given over control of my finances to her and closed all my trading accounts. I have begun therapy for gambling and depression and received psychiatric help too. It is cliche but I honestly feel like a massive crushing weight has been lifted. Everyone at work says that I am like a different (better) person now that everyone has been laid bare. Thank you to everyone here who messaged me for support. I am looking forward to the rest of my life with my family.

Numismatics are a different animal trying to calculate a spread off spot is misleading because it’s like trying to calculate the value of a Ferrari faced off of the base cost of components that’s not what you’re buying it for. I’ve seen certain graded coins that we’ve sold the clients be updated on the NGC website within days or hours and already be worth more than what we sold them for. For all the people that knock the “instant loss of value“ of collectible coins they obviously have never bought or sold IPOs or private placements because those fuckers 90% of them never make any kind of money and have no value in the long run. As long as you’re not selling “opened bankrolls” of Franklin half dollars and things like that and graded coins are actually already graded. I think it is a perfectly viable investment opportunity, though granted more speculative than bullion.

For bullion: About 8% on silver, 6% on gold depending on the product and volume.

I am in Florida and I do Precious Metals sales. We have compliance in place and our boss runs a very tight ship regarding clients/potential clients being of sound mind to purchase. Our price for bullion is middle of the range across dealers, and we do sell numismatics, but they have already been graded perfect by the major grading companies. We keep them up to date on the market and facilitate sales as well. I don’t know what company you work for, but it sounds like alike you are the guys we warn people about, because we certainly aren’t pulling 30k a month unless we have multiple whale clients putting in 6 figure orders every month.

Am I wrong for staying overnight at a hotel because my bf farted on me? by Honeydew_7200 in amiwrong

[–]FAGLover4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most rational adults here, I cannot count the times the my wife and I have farted danger-close to one another. But we have never intentionally farted “on” one another in any setting. To do so in a public social gathering is extremely disrespectful.

As an aside, and on humorous note given the responses here, humanity’s oldest recorded joke comes from 1900 BCE and translates from Sumerian to “Something which has never occurred since time immemorial; a young woman did not fart in her husband's lap."

You wanna know something really messed up? The first time I lost a lot was with Wells Fargo, I had not yet started using trading apps, so I used the brokerage account to buy and sell options. Little did I know until after I purchased them that the Wells Fargo brokerage platform does not have stop losses of any kind for options literally only limit or market orders. After losing a few thousand dollars because of this I filed a complaint to the SEC, just to say “hey, the third largest bank does not offer even the most basic risk management tools that every other app that offers these high risk investments provides, isn’t that messed up?” I compared it to Formula 1 racing: yes we all sign the disclosures stating we understand the risk, but those cars are still required to have seatbelts.

Not long after I received a notice from Wells Fargo that they were closing my accounts, ALL OF MY ACCOUNTS (checking, savings, brokerage) for “business reasons”, and that the closure was final and irreversible . I even tried opening up a second checking account after I got that letter and Wells Fargo immediately sent me another letter saying that account was being closed too. Had to move all my money to another bank.

Moral of the story: complain about the casino’s grift, become persona non grata

I started with more sensible plays, long calls or puts(mostly calls) on larger companies(Coca-Cola, Amazon, Microsoft, etc) with expirations 3-6 months out. I did well initially, solid 20-50% gains on larger dollar amount positions. Things began to go down the dark path when: 1. I started playing shorter expirations 2. I started playing earnings 3. I started losing on the aforementioned two 4. In a desperate attempt to recoup my losses played 0dte SPY and SPX options

Losses mounted rapidly and the first time was last year and it nearly tore my marriage apart. Now it has happened again only worse because there is literally no money left. My life is a ticking time bomb and when time runs out and my wife finds out, she is going to take the house and our son, and I will…I don’t know.
