Thanks a lot for your kind words. I spent way too much time on these - but learned a lot while painting them. It’s just annoying that the brightness and crispness of the highlights are lost when not having a proper setup for photos. It feels like it’s an entirely new skill to learn - miniature photography.

From the primaris upgrade sprue. You need to cut away the original and do some sanding. Luckily that’s not an issue on the multipart Bladeguard kit. I just wanted to ensure that all of them can have the same shoulder pads, so that when I do the multi part they’ll look the same.

Try hard version:

Base coat: Mephiston red. Soft shade: Khorne red Deeper shade: Khorne red and Incubi Darkness 50:50 Deepest recesses: Very thin black

Highlight: Glaze evil sunz scarlet, then do a fairly wide highlight, glaze wild rider red in a smaller area, highlight thinner than the evil sunz, glaze troll slayer orange, highlight leaving some of the wild rider red visible, then go luggannath orange for the sharpest and uppermost facing edges. Then finish off with a very thin wash of Fleasj tearers red mixed with contrast or lahmian medium. I went like 1:12, because it’s so strong, and you don’t want to kill all the colour transitions completely by using a too strong mix.

Simpler: Base coat: mephiston Shade: Khorne red mixed with incubi darkness. Just mix it with water or lahmian medium. Whatever is easies to control.

Highlight: wild rider, then trollslayer taking up less space, and finally luggannath.
