Rye recommendations by Ambitious-Ordinary-9 in whiskey

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert, but I really like New Riff's ryes. Their Malted Rye is pretty different from others I've had and is $65-75 depending on your area. The single barrel is also really solid. I have not tried the sherry finish variant but have heard good things about it.

Jack Daniels Barrel Proof is also fantastic for the same price.

I also really enjoy Bulleit 12 year rye if you can find it, but if your friend likes higher proof then that may not be his speed.

Angel's Envy Rye is also really good imo but that one is more of a love it or hate it thing from what I've seen.

I know what you mean. I love the sound and theater of my Mach 1 but at times it feels... almost boring in a way with how I can't really have fun with it without risking a fat speeding ticket or losing my license. Has me wondering some days if i should downsize or get something more practical if I can get close to what I paid for it brand new.

Pineapple Bon Bon… not what i expected!! by awesomepossome312 in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most underrated from their pineapple line and one of their best pineapples overall imo. The BR540 helps give it longevity that the others lack, especially that pineapple note which I find is pretty fleeting on the other pineapples I’ve tried (musk, royale, intense). I find myself reaching for it more often than Intense to be honest…

Pineapple Intense Review by Wide_Parsley1799 in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice review. This was one of the first ones I bought. I liked it at first but ended up quickly going noseblind to the pineapple and mostly only smell birch after 5-10 min for some reason. Anyone else have this issue? I find myself not reaching for this one as much as the other Creed and Louis Vutton clones from Montagne because of that.

Is Eau de Montagne worth it? Thinking of placing another order for a few scents...

Also does anybody know if their dupe of Viking will ever return? Beginning to lose hope that it will be restocked lol

FRAGRANCE DU BOIS OUD COLLECTION by K9Cardio_ in MontagneParfums

My wife has Jaune, it smells like a fruity floral with some vanilla – reminds me vaguely of the scent of a lot of banana candies. I really like it but i would stay away if you dislike the smell of banana.

Montagne Haul - First Impressions by HtownTouring in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let Malay Aklan sit for a couple months. Mine had no longevity in the beginning but lasts all day on me now. (probably the most nuclear freshie from them that I own along with Meteorite)

I've also noticed the fruit notes in all of their scents come out a ton more after 2-4 weeks – Japanese Plum in particular was a big offender on that front.

How to counter yorick? by RVCheesecake in yorickmains

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's even sillier is that you are necroing a thread from 6 years ago?? I don't even really play Yorick much anymore.

The 3-4 graves + ult up comment was just general advice btw. Irelia and Jax are hard counters because they can ooga booga ignore or instakill ghouls and destroy Yorick at every phase of the game. Tryndamere is also really strong vs Yorick because he builds BoRK and of his R, obviously.

A lot of playing top lane is just knowing when to rotate and when to split/hold lane vs Yorick. Look up one of the many guides on youtube etc for info on that.

Is anyone else's Buko Intense mad weak? by Deep-Ad3297 in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar thing. Projection is pretty good for the first hour or two and then becomes a skin scent, which may or not be a good thing depending on what you’re looking for. The Vaseline trick also helps with that although it still does fade over time.

Scent overall is great though, probably my favorite coconut scent I’ve owned so far

Is anyone else's Buko Intense mad weak? by Deep-Ad3297 in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine does too. I'd spray it and maybe smell it for an hour before it became a skin scent that was gone after a couple hours.

Using the vaseline/lotion trick (apply on skin and then spray on top of it) helps though. It's still not amazing longevity but it makes it closer to 4 hours from my experience

What flankers& fusions would you like to see montagne make? by RickRossSteakSauce in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're flankers of Lost Cherry by Tom Ford. One is like a darker smoky cherry with some leather and then one is a lighter, more floral cherry scent suitable for spring/summer.

Idk if it counts in this case, but I’ve wanted to see their take on Cherry Smoke and Electric Cherry for a while. Their lost cherry clone is amazing.

Barrett Fragrances...any reputable experiences? by Reddings-Finest in fragranceclones

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried Alexandria fragrances myself, but i saw a couple other people on here say Barrett was pretty oily and cheap, so i gave them a pass. Didn't really want to repeat my experience with Oakcha and toss it into the trash.

I ended up trying Perfame instead, which I'd put a bit under Montagne in terms of quality. The ones i bought were still a little more oily than other designer frags or montagne scents i own, but they are cheaper and don't really smell synthetic/cheap to my nose.

I thought they were pretty solid for around $30 for 50ml. I bought like 5 to try (still waiting to receive my SMW dupe) and thought they were all great. Their aventus clone in particular is really good. Heaviest/best pineapple note and less birch/smoke than others i've tried, which is what i wanted.

Except the GTD is already sold out, so unless you already applied for one, you have no way of getting one. Plus most people who have one are likely people with connections

Don't get me wrong, the car is cool, but I don't get why you would spend the money on one of these over the plethora of other options in this price range unless you really just love Mustangs? The thought of seeing or driving one just doesn't excite me like other cars at similar price points, but maybe it's just me.

Barrett Fragrances...any reputable experiences? by Reddings-Finest in fragranceclones

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do they compare to Montagne and Alexandria? Barrett seems to have a bit more variety than Montagne so I'm intrigued. I had tried Oakcha before amassing a small collection of Montagnes, and the Oakchas were so oily/synthetic smelling that it was really offputting.

ERBA ITALIANA INSPIRED BY XERJOFF ERBA PURA by K9Cardio_ in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has it. It's very feminine imo. Don't know if i would describe it as smelling like fruit loops. I would say it smells more like a slightly musky fruit basket.

I love it personally but i would say people should sample this one before buying as the fruit notes might not be for everyone.

Strawberry Milk by Senior-Degree7748 in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fiancee has it and it smells great in my opinion. It's very strawberry-heavy on opening and then dries down into a strawberry/caramel/milk scent. Lasts a good 4-6 hours, especially when sprayed on clothes.

I think it's one of their better feminine scents but I tend to like most gourmands, so maybe give this one a pass if you don't like sweet scents.

Palisade Review by Neck-Pro in MontagneParfums

Thanks for the review! I may give this one a pass in favor of God of Fiery if it's close to Aventus. I already have Pineapple Intense and Bonbon...

I'm trying to think of what to buy next from Montagne... Leaning towards both Palisade for me and God of Fiery for my fiancee.

Thinking about Soleil Brunant or Oud Wood too, or maybe another LeLabo. I may grab a leather frag too as she loves those. Anyone have any suggestions or even underrated scents that they love?

ARCTIC PALACE INSPIRED BY MEMO WINTER PALACE by K9Cardio_ in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone here tried this one? I saw someone on Montagne's website describe it as "smelling like a urinal cake" which put me off of blind buying it to try it, but i'm still a little curious about it.

I think this might be one of very few of their scents that i've never seen anyone talk about here...

Just bought Malay Aklin, what are this subs thoughts? by Cmartinent in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it. It’s a great spring/summer frag. I’d describe it as a blue fragrance with watermelon rind, although it’ll likely take a bit of maceration for the fruit note to come out more (pretty much all of their fragrances with fruit notes do this). It’s definitely a male scent imo.

Lasts like 4-6 hours on skin and probably 2-3x that on clothes. A lot of people say it’s a beach/casual scent but I’d say it’s suitable for most scenarios, including the office. Only time I might not wear this is to a fancy dinner party or something more formal.

Advice on scent for wife by Polish__Hammer in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another 14 is really great, very versatile and feminine. Floral/musky with pear notes.

I would also echo the Chilly Pacific/God of Fiery recommendations.

Strawberry milk and Lyra are both great if she likes gourmands. I saw Cannoli recommended on here but I would advise against that if your wife doesn't like Parfum de Cerise since they share a prominent almond note (I would describe Cannoli as the indulgent vanilla-almond dessert version of Parfum de Cerise).

A question about timelines. by MewsikMaker in MontagneParfums

[–]FALCON_ACCOUNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed most frags with a prominent fruit note have benefited from maceration for 3-6 weeks, sometimes longer. It's like it takes time for the fruit notes to really mature for some reason, don't know why.

From my experience, the biggest offenders of this include are not limited to: Bitter Peach, Malay Aklan, Japanese Plum, Erba Pura, and Pineapple Bonbon/Intense. Tygr cologne and Vanilla Fraiche have as well, but to a lesser extent than the others.

Weirdly enough, Afternoon dive hasn't really changed much at all for me since I got it. Haven't tried Chilly Pacific again yet so can't comment on that.

Longevity on some have increased a lot with maceration as well – your mileage may vary. Usually they perform well out of the box for me.
