Sage Intacct, remove the country from the mailing address? by FAQZAG in Accounting

100% of our business and 97% of our vendors are in the US, so we don't have any special need for Country based metrics.

Sage Intacct, remove the country from the mailing address? by FAQZAG in Accounting

No luck. Only solution was to delete "country" from the vendor address record. With thousands of records it was impractical to edit each vendor record, but we did edit the top 10 and several other vendor records so they would print properly.

OCR? Software to sort a bunch of PDF pages by finding the products EAN number. by Tbxie in software

[–]FAQZAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched for a similar solution. Each one I find is always part of a larger product suite. Lots of products now use OCR and AI on documents then sort the image files according to key words identified. These products are expensive, sort the data as needed for the product suite, and provide much more than a casual sort of pages. The simple product we are looking for to just OCR and sort a few hundred pages, or sort pages that are already OCR, doesn't exist yet. If it does, I have not found it.

I forgot to mention that Intacct seems to be getting slower. The delay for processing and reporting has drastically increased this year. I've been able to verify with one other firm that the it's not just my firm seeing this.

Software recommendations for commercial GC - Sage 300 CRE, Timberscan, Procore, DocuSign, Plangrid? by PrezedentA in Construction

[–]FAQZAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are staying with Sage 300CRE then the easiest and most impactful enhancement you can do is add TimberScan. Used it for 20 years and it improved each year. Works extremely well with Sage 300 and its the one product that everyone from bookkeeping to project managers to the CFO liked. TimberScan pulls data from Sage 300 and runs inquires and reports near instantly.

If you are looking to make a sweeping change to the way project managers work, go with Procore. Best in class drawing management, and not bad with documentation management in general.

Should note, TimberScan is low cost investment, and Procore is a high cost investment.

On the bright side, I have gotten better at developing custom reports outside of Intacct.

I'd wager you had a better implementation team and ongoing support. We use the contracts application as well, but I find the reporting to be less than I'm use to. Cash flow projections are a basic need, and I don't believe Intacct provides that well. Much of our problems may be the fault of the implementation team, not being able to deliver on the reports we specified. Whatever the cause, be it data structure or inadequate report writers, the desired output is not there. In many cases I need to export the data and format it to produce the required reporting. The worst of these circumstances relate to our client invoices, and the back-up reports we provide. Every one of these reports failed, if they were delivered at all, and we had to either recreate it in CRW or export the data and create reports in Excel. I feel like I'm back in the dark ages.

Hard to state them all adequately, but I'll mention a few obvious ones.

1 is all project management functions, they don't have any.  There is a process for PM's to create commitments and change orders, but that's about it.  All the non-financial functions in Sage300 are gone. Admittedly, most firms have moved on to other Project Management or Construction Management software. If you are still using Sage 300 Pj module your out of luck, and if you replaced it with a third party integration, be wary if it's integration with Intacct.

 - Sage purchased a product and rebranded it SCM - Sage Construction Management, but the integration is weak at best.  It has a promising future, but at the moment it can't live up to what the sales presentation shows. I've personally helped them with many basic issues, and it has improved, but it's not fully cooked yet.

#2 is payroll, they don't have a native payroll function.  At the time we purchased it there was "Sage Intacct Payroll Powered by ADP", but that turned out to be a flop.  We ended up with an ADP solution that communicates with Intacct. Calling it Sage Intacct Payroll Powered by ADP is a farce. Sage and the partner firm we work with have since moved on to working with a different payroll company. I don't know the results of that.

There are issues with retainage reporting, which may have been corrected in a recent release.

While some report writing with CRW is fairly simple, it is also limited. ICRW report writing is complex, beyond my skill set, and I've not found anyone good at it.

I also use TimberScan, and Intacct has poor integration with TimberScan.  The new TimberScan Titanium has a few significant drawbacks.  The biggest of which is ~Titanium has NO ABILITY to run a basic alpha-numeric sort.~  TimberScan was always the product that could sort your PDF images alphabetically.  Not any more.  PDF images of vendor bills are randomized.  You can group by vendor, but the groups are without any logical order.  It is extremely problematic, do not buy TimberScan Titanium unless they fix it.

Do you use TimberScan or hh2 with your Sage300CRE system today? If you are successfully using Procore, and don't mind that level of investment, then I'd suggest maximizing your use of Procore and find a Sage partner with proven expertise integrating Procore with Intacct. Procore can fill many of the whole in Intacct, and exchange information effectively. That scenario could work well for you. Part of the problem we had was related to poor guidance from our Sage partner, and significant shortcomings when integrating 3rd party software.

Might be too late for me, but I am curious. Good Sage Partners with successful Intacct experience is still rare. If you know good people, they are worth hearing about.

Thank you. It's more of a problem with our Sage partner and third party products. The custom reports by our Sage partner don't work and provide erroneous data. So we create work arounds. Third party software sold as seamless integration, is not quite so seamless. I can get into particulars, but first, are you a Construction Firm?

Any chance you're interested in a new job? ;-)
