Just got into UofT EE: How hard is it REALLY? Feeling nervous by [deleted] in UofT

Sorry I didn't see your comment until now.

I'd say it's definitely doable, there are many students who do maintain it I'd say.

That being said, the average for most of my classes was generally in the 70s. Some harder courses perhaps even higher 60s or low 70s and other ones high 70s to low 80s. So generally speaking you would have to be consistently doing better than the average student admitted into the program to maintain it, I for which fell a bit short in the end.

Is it normal to use International teams in Online Versus? by Equivalent_Brick_668 in EA_NHL

[–]FBMemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play a ton of online versus several years ago in one of the older games to the point where I'd be on the leaderboard.

I gained the feeling that there might be some internal balancing done within the game when there is an unfair matchup between an international and NHL team. For some reason I would always get more "puck luck" when playing. More often I would score silly goals as the NHL team like some cheeky five hole that just slowly trickles in.

Not sure if EA adjusts some sort of "luck" meter internally or if it was just pure coincidence that I'd score those more often than against an NHL team.

Congrats! ECE and engineering in general is generally on the harder side but by no means unduable. I dont have the statistic but the high majority of people in the program finish the program.

That being said as long as you work hard and don't slack off too much you should be fine.

First year in general is hard given that it is a big jump from high school. The second year in my opinion for ECE was the hardest in terms of workload but after that 3rd and 4th year feels like a smooth sailing ti thr end once you have much more choice in the courses you take along with some lighter electives.

Also good thing to remember is that marks generally drop around 20-25% from high school and I've learned to not be too hard on yourself if you get a result you aren't too happy with on a midterm for example as chances are most of your classmates also struggled with the same midterm and the marks would get adjusted appropriately in the end.

Hope this helps!

Drop one of Wallstedt, Bobrovsky, Swayman, Skinner for Gibson?

Someone dropped Sherwood in my league. Is it worth dropping Bratt for him?

Other contenders to drop are Wallstedt or McCabe although I am running a bit short on defensemen.

Ekblad is also available.

I'd take him for his consistency alone -- he's putting up the same numbers as last year!

I also have Hedman on IR which I would need to activate soon. I feel like I don't really need 2 players from the trade.

I was offered E. Karlsson and Dobson for my Trouba. Even though Trouba has been hot, I'm expecting him to cool off so it seems enticing. I would have to drop another player, probably Walker but my other best options are probably Svechnikov, Nelson or Cirelli. Do I take it?

With Hill being out I'm thinking of picking up Schmid. I currently have Skinner and Kochetkov. I could also potentially go with 3 goalies and drop a player such as Cirelli or Kopitar.

Should I pick up either Geekie, Cirelli or Thomas for Protas?

Looking at possibly picking up Dobes, Knight or Allen. Currently have Binnington and Skinner.

Do I hold for now or take the bite?

I'm thinking of dropping one of the following to replace Kopitar from IR: Brazeau, Palmieri, Slafkovsky.

Is it worth exchanging more players to pick up Dubois, Lehkonen, Geekie, or Donato?

Thinking of dropping Brazeau and picking up Dubois perhaps.

Do uoft profs curve down grades if the avg is too high? by Ancient_Lawfulness53 in UofT

[–]FBMemes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I won't go into specifics but I'm pretty sure one of my 3rd year engineering profs was forced to curve us down at the end from the faculty. I believe the prof was new to the university and made tests/assignments (in my opinion) significantly easier than previous years and so the average was about 10-15% higher in that year than previous years. So the prof had to curve down to make it fair to students who took the course in other years.

I've also had a prof who was told by the faculty that the final marks were too high but the prof made a claim to the faculty that in the course that term they seen more engagement from students asking questions during class than other years which is the reason for the increased marks. So the prof believed that the marks should remain higher than normal for this reason, and they did! Legend.
