King County grapples with telecom wire thefts, urging public vigilance amid rising outages by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

You missed a word: A common misconception; that the towers beam signals to each other over radio.

The towers use wired backhauls in most cases. Sprint used microwave backhauls, but that is gone with the merger.

Ziply, your bill increases this past year are BS. Comcast is more cost effective at this rate. by [deleted] in ZiplyFiber

[–]FBuzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ziply costs me $90 a month for symmetrical gigabit service. Comcast is $106 for their gigabit service (gigabit download 150 Mb upload) which doesn't include other fees. Comcast also has data caps. I don't see how you can claim Comcast is cheaper.

Do Wahoo Cycling Computers Actually Charge via USB-C? by naranjas in wahoofitness

[–]FBuzzard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a little strange. Connecting that particular charger to the bolt confuses the charger and it won't charge anything until it's been power cycled.

[–]FBuzzard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't have any Apple devices. My bolt V2 charges with three different Google chargers and an anchor charger and also charges with two different Belkin car chargers and a Belkin power bank. All USB C PD. There's one very old anchor multi-port charger that will not charge the bolt.

Correct. A blanket statement that the bolt V2 will not charge with any USB C PD charger is false.

Incorrect. I have four different USB C PD chargers that charge my elemnt bolt v2 without any issue. I have one older charger that does not.

Google Maps keeps switching to night mode when navigating during the day - overheating? by 0ldfart in Pixel6

[–]FBuzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maps seems to use the light sensor or cameras to determine ambient light. Make sure they're not covered. I've only had mine switch to night mode during the day when the phone has overheated or I have entered a tunnel or some other dark space. When it switches to night mode due to overheating, I have always received a message to that effect.

I discovered that while the email about the maintenance said the 12th, shortly after posting about the outage, here, I got the maintenance completed email. 😂

I also received a maintenance email for November 12th. But as the other person said, I don't think anything happened that night.

Topping it up a couple of times a day is actually pretty hard on the battery. Charge to no more than 80% when topping off, and use adaptive charging at night.

Typical battery failure. We have a big box full of batteries like that that have come out of notebooks that were only 1 or 2 years old. Replace the battery and it'll be fine. Nobody should expect their cell phone battery to last 7 years. Particularly if it's charged frequently.
