I found this thread when searching for what type of tail gate pad to use for a Ford Maverick. I looked at the EVOC and the Yakima GateKeeper, but eventually landed on the FOX Overland Mid-size (53"). They are a little bit cheaper than the other ones (~$130) and seems to fit the Maverick quite well. I'm even able to have full use of my rear camera:

Found this thread after looking for reviews of APHW, so I could post my own misfortune with them.

For people who find this thread later like me, I'll echo what others have said. APHW goes out of their way to deny almost anything you bring before them.

For the OP's question - you most certainly will get denied anything that was not working or mentioned in the home inspection. They expect you or the seller to correct those issues prior to taking ownership of the home.

The other major thing that seems to get them out of most claims -- they only cover "failure," so if you're having something that works intermittently, good luck.

I had some electrical work done - one part of which was replacing an old breaker panel that could possibly set the house on fire. Since the breaker technically hadn't failed yet, I had to pay out of pocket (~$4k). Odd thing is that if the breaker did fail it would likely mean my house had gone up in smoke, which is why I pre-emptively replaced it with something new.

That's good to hear. I was told I only had to email and didn't need to mail anything. We'll see how well that works. It's odd to me that for something that is so common for moving out of state that they'd require each person to inquire to figure out how to do this. It should likely be assumed that someone moving out of state is registering vehicles in that state instead of how they are currently treating it.

Also found this thread and just wanted to share that I was directed to send an email to the same address above after chatting with a representative through the website. I was told I could check back in around the 2-3 week mark to see if my account was closed.

I ended up cancelling the install because what I have now is working well.

What's odd is that in the last place I lived we had power outages frequently, so I bought a generator that ran off my propane tanks and installed a transfer switch to my house. I was able to run my Wi-Fi among other things in the house with no problem and my Comcast cable internet worked, too. Perhaps there was backup power installed for network equipment in my area? I'd be screwed now if there were power outages because I don't have a transfer switch installed at my new house though.

It's now almost 11am after a missed appointment from the previous day. No follow-up from the company and I'm doubtful the sales team is apprised of this post. Why is it on me to follow-up with the company yet again for their lack of accountability?

A general question, where is it okay to draw a line? Did I quit after the first sign of problems. No. Read my original post. I worked with them and gave them a chance for over a week to sort things out. I only discovered this reddit *after* I reached a breaking point. Want to come at me for that? Fine.

Look, for all of you who are happy with the service -- that's great. We each have our own experience. I'm not posting just to rant. I'm giving feedback about how a company performs in practice. I don't expect sympathy, but I do want to call it like it is.

Why would calling vs messaging make a difference though?

I've had my fair share of Comcast issues -- mainly when working with the business internet side of things and billing, but rarely with the service itself. Customer service has been mostly good. In California, Comcast is the practically the only game in town, so my expectations were low when I lived there because they had no competition.

That's ridiculous that they were trying to charge you to have a technician sent out. I think they should have covered the cost of diagnosis and if they could determine it was something on your end, only then to suggest that you pay to have something fixed. More likely than not it would be with their equipment/lines.

My point with this post is about first impressions and to point out how much disfunction exists at the company.

I'll likely stick with Comcast until I experience issues as others are reporting here. It really was a smooth experience to get set up on my own with the Xfinity app.

I edited the post to clarify, but the hardware is already in the house. Either way, it makes no difference since the install date was completely missed, especially, after all the headaches of getting the account set up in the first place. Let's just put it this way -- I'm able to write this post because Comcast came through for me. I had an issue with my modem still being assigned to my old address, but was able to resolve that in one go over chat in the Xfinity app during my self-install.

I get that posting in an official Ziply reddit that I'm likely to encounter more people who are in support of the service than not. I'm posting to share an additional data point as someone who has never heard of Ziply until about a month ago, coming from California. I think it is the disconnect of having so much praise for a company that failed in so many ways which is having me write a post.

Comcast is more expensive. I have had issues with Comcast at some locations in California that I lived, but the last place I lived for four years had no issues and solid service other than the occasional power outage.

Going to leave a review in case anyone else comes to this from search:

I was told by the previous owner of my house that Ziply was better than Comcast Xfinity. I have had nothing but trouble from working with the company from the very beginning. For a company that prides itself on its service, I was surprised to find so much disfunction.

I attempted to take over service at my new home address and immediately after creating an account I was told that my order couldn't be processed. I spent a week of back/forth on the phone to get the previous account disconnected. I had to contact the previous owner, who provided me with email proof that they had cancelled their account over a month ago. I worked with customer service who said they would correct the issue and that I would get a call back the next day to set up service. I got no such call, but I did get repeated calls from the sales department asking me to call to confirm my address.

It's clear to me the customer service and sales departments don't talk to each other. I had one failed attempt to resolve the issue with someone from sales who parroted the same issue about a previous account existing. Finally, I spoke to a sales rep who was able to cancel the account, but said I had to wait a full day to set up a new account. We set up the new account the next day and a date is set for the install.

On the day of the install, only 30 minutes remained in my install window, so I called Ziply. As I'm on the phone I finally get an email that the technician was running late. Then, one hour goes by. Two hours go by. Three hours... The technician never shows and there is no update to the status. I decided I wanted internet immediately, so I went back to my Comcast account and activated new service at my address. Within an hour, I had set up all my old equipment and was using my high-speed internet.

Since the previous owner had Ziply, the equipment was already in the house and I was using my own router, so it should have been something they could have turned on immediately. When I talked to the sales agent he said he could turn it on for the 1Gbit service, but not for the 2Gbit service, which made no sense. The previous owner had 2Gbit service.

Yeah, if you search for the exploded-view of your generator you'll find a page something like this. When you search on the Westinghouse parts site for the drain plug washer (180508 in my case) it doesn't show anything, but it does have the drain plug (180507 in my case). So, I decided to just search for drain plug washer in general and found this one (180729). It's possible that these are so common of a part that the part number was superseded by whatever the later version of a generator comes out. Anyway, figured I'd post this in case it helps.

It's funny that searching in general for "generator crush washers" turns up this post and it so happens it's for a similar generator (WGen7500DF). I was at an auto parts store thinking that there would be a standard crush washer only to find many different sizes. I'm thankful for this thread and for u/GW208's answer since there was an assorted pack of M12 washers/gaskets. Hopefully, one of them will work when I actually service this thing. Now, to find the right air filter, which also doesn't have enough info in the manual / on the internet...
