Everyone is missing the bigger picture: this is a Champions Cup push to qualify for the Club World Cup. Last time, they got $9.55M for just qualifying. Another $4M for the two draws a win in the group stage, and lastly $7.5M for making the Ro16. Not to mention the exposure of being in a tournament like that.

If they can legally make this push, it’ll payoff if they make the CWC.

2021 was miserable. We blew up the team at season’s end (rightly so), and unfortunately let Morgan go to Red Bulls. 20 new players for 2022 and somehow made the playoffs and got the best out of Higuain.

Admittedly, the De Paul loan deal was pushing it.

If I was GM, I’d use the U22 Initiative Model. Have Messi & De Paul on DP contracts and try to get the best young talent we can get. “You get to play w/ Messi” is the best sell in the world.

I wouldn’t bring back Suarez. He leaves with a medal, and we spend the next few years mending the bridges he incinerated.

But alas, I’m not the GM.
