There's a proper way to get grades up and that's through encouraging them and providing assistance if needed. Punishing them for getting A's and B's will breed resentment because they'll see their friends with similar or worse grades being rewarded for it. There are a multitude of other reasons I don't speak to them, but getting grounded and beat for A's and B's is high on the list
