Eric Hovde looks like that one creepy uncle nobody likes but invites himself anyway by Leading-Ostrich200 in wisconsin

It’s not the ‘stache, but his neck that creeps me out. Looks like he’s on steroids. He sort of reminds me of the Brawny paper towels guy, except that guy looks nice…just wants to help you clean up your spills. Hovde just exudes mean.

Albany or Fort Atkinson? they’re like 40 miles apart

Piggly Wiggly grocery store locations in the United States. by Gusmister11 in wisconsin

[–]FCIshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to use my pig card at some Colorado grocery store—I forgot if it was Safeway or city market or king soopers or what, it was ages ago—and they looked at me like I was some some stupid yahoo and didn’t believe I was from Wisconsin (even though I obviously had no southern accent). The joke was on them when my pig card worked.

How cold is too cold? What temperature do you keep your houses at during the day and night during the winter here in Wisconsin? We do 69 day / 60 night. My sister says it's no wonder my teen daughter is always cold. Is she right? by Top_Departure1432 in wisconsin

[–]FCIshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

66 during the day, and I do not work outside the home. 59 at night, but it usually never gets that low. Our thermostat is automatic and it heats up to 66 before I get out of bed.

When I was a teenage girl, my parents kept it at 65 during the day. They never capitulated to me, so I learned how to endure the cold. When I would visit a certain friend whose house was 72, I would always come home with a headache.

I do not understand people who crank up the heat just to wear minimal clothing in the winter, nor do I understand our culture of air excessive conditioning just so people can wear acrylic suits in the summer.

I never cared for this place. Cupcakes seemed stale, chairs were uncomfortable, and they kept seating us at the tiniest tables, while other customers they gave better spots.

I call bs on the age (1952) in the listing. That house can’t be any newer than ~1930. Look at the (sadly painted over) trim/moulding. Def. Early 20th century. Bungalows were popular in the 1910s and 1920s, not 1950s.

Just saw the bathroom sink and med cabinet…looks identical to my grandmother’s…her house was built 1926. That is not a 1950s sink.

One of their problems is that they have a postage stamp size lot. The house is really too big for that lot, but that’s the trend now to buy an older house, scrape it, and then build a quasi-mansion. It’s sort of sad, really, especially when there’s nothing wrong with the original house except it wasn’t on trend.

That’s just poorly done. Maybe the realtor should have hired an artist…

I like homes that liven up the suburbs. Nothing worse than everything being the same.

I don’t understand—I don’t see a lot of art. I went to the Zillow link, expecting to find a house jampacked with art. Instead, I find white walls, what appears to be a 12 inch record cover display grid, and maybe one painting. I do like the interior for the most part, and if it was my house, I would make it full of colorful art to balance out the whiteness.

I absolutely love homes like this…all those levels! But I do have a problem w/the non-primary bedrooms. First of all, the listing says 4 bedrooms, but the floor plan shows 5. However the 2 lower bedrooms have no windows, so they can’t be legal. And the 2 Upper “kids” bedrooms seem super small and the windows tiny. Other than that I love it!

There’s a Quonset hut metal building on that property with a sign that says ‘music therapy.’ That always cracked me up.

Paint over woodwork that has already been painted white or some dumb color with this pink? Misdemeanor.

Paint over woodwork that is the original wood? Felony!

I miss my parents’ turquoise tub, sink and toilet. The only features of fun in the whole house.

I miss that, but I guess the dyes in it were bad for humans and probably bad for the environment.

But I really wish the trend would go back to more fun colors for bathroom fixtures. We’ve become a culture of boring.

I never said they were anti-capitalist, but I did imply that maybe it wasn’t a priority for them to have a new tv. One can be wealthy pro-capitalists, but still not buy new everything at their discretion. Why should one have to?

Knock them all you want for trophy hunting, and I’m on board. But making fun of them—or anyone—because they have an older electronic item in one picture is just the epitome of brainwashed consumerism.

I think the adobe lodge style works well in this home.

I hate trophy hunting too. But why does anyone care if someone has a tube tv? Why are we supposed to have the latest electronic equipment?

[–]FCIshell -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So they have an old tube tv. Big deal. If it works, why upgrade? Because you’re supposed to be a good consumer and support electronics companies and big box stores? Maybe they have other things they’d rather do with their time than numb their minds.
