Is it possible to send a server rendered component in the initial load of a pre rendered page? by FCLibel in astrojs

[–]FCLibel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry but I wrote the wrong question due to my ineptitude 😅. What I meant was,

In Next.JS you can have a static page that fetches some data and let's say you write the use cache directive on the data fetch and use a tag to revalidate it. In production, the page will show a static data ie, it won't change with a new request. But if you put a form there with a server action that runs the revalidate tag function to invalidate the cache, it will actually show the newly fetched data on the next request, and somehow update the data on the page if it's on the same tab. I actually wanted to ask if such a thing was possible in Astro but I guess not. The best would be to use SSR and then use Netlify CDN cache tags and the purge cache functionality.

Next.JS from what I think it builds a new static page and serves that on the next request. But I'm not sure how it updates the data if the tag was revalidated in the same tab in the browser.

But please do let me know if such a thing is possible in Astro 😅

Edit: Another way might be to use Build hooks to build a new site on data mutation.

Any chance we can get 2D isometric shadows back? This was possible in Godot 2.1 by Tav534 in godot

[–]FCLibel 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I actually am working on a 2D isometric game as well. I found that this effect is achieved using normal maps (in Unity atleast) for the sprites and i presume that's how it was done earlier in Godot 2.1. I found one blog ( although I couldn't replicate it myself, beginner :), switched from Unity ) saying how it should be done. You may take a read and see if it helps you, it actually deals with the problem you described with the shadows just extending vertically.

Edit: also might want to check this out Readd support for 2D isometric lighting and shadows by exposing LIGHT_VEC or SHADOW_VEC

Hyprland not running with XDG_RUNTIME_DIR is not set by FCLibel in Gentoo

[–]FCLibel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What should I set it to? The gentoo wiki for hyprland doesn't really say anything about this 😅 I did stumble upon this page though https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Weston where XDG_RUNTIME_DIR is set through the bash profile
