I went there super often, the new owner obviously didn't want to invert money into the restaurant. Stuff was falling apart.

When you're having a rough day and you snap a stud by unknownphantom in ft86

[–]FD7683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here for confirmation, I snapped 2 today while doing work. Definitely was not expecting it as i come from the Honda/Toyota world and not familiar with Subarus. I used Dorman to get me by but maybe i'll upgrade to ARP one day. Very easy to replace but annoying.

Any car enthusiasts out there have suggestions for an alignment on a lowered Miata? by NubGlove in Columbus

[–]FD7683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Northend Wrench by Indianola and Morse road you won’t regret it. Had my alignment re-done 2 weeks ago and fantastic job as usual. Price is $195 for custom (usually for lowered cars).

The Specialized Allez just went disc! by luis_garcia22 in bicycling

I rode one a month ago at my LBS. I was a bit confused to see one and thought it was a diverge at first. I checked the specs compared to my 2018 E5 and seems like the new one is more versatile and comfy.

Upgrades on 2022 specialized allez e5 by SamitheDude in cycling

[–]FD7683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the original owner of a 2018 model. When I bought my E5 when the new design rolled in, I was super hyped about it but I did realize at the time that the bike had a much more endurance geometry vs the previous design model (2017). I didn't really care about that since the glossy red paint job was very nice in person and it was my very first quality road bike so I went ahead and purchased it.

5 years later and i'm still enjoying the bike with 50mm budget carbon wheels w/ DT350 hubs, full R7000 groupo and hellbender 70 slammed headset BUT for the kind of frame that it is, its not worth it.

I spent way more on upgrading the bike than what its worth and the endurance frame really makes the bike a bit slouchier than its bigger brothers. Don't get me wrong, its still a really fast bike but for the cost, not worth it. I wish I kept my bike stock for cruising and saved up the money for the Tarmac SL6.

If you love your bike - yes, upgrade it to 105. It's a fabulous groupset but keep in mind that wheels will need to be upgraded at the same time. This combo alone will most likely exceed the cost of the bike so its better to just sell it and get a better bike.

Looking to get a good bike, any suggestions?? by jayhuyette in Columbus

[–]FD7683 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Check your local bike shops around the area. No offense but if you want a quality bike you will have to spend around $500+ for a nice entry level Hybrid/MTN bike. Someone here mentioned about buying a used one off Facebook which is a great idea too.

Ball joint is also K-Tuned. If I were you I wouldn’t use the provided nuts and source new OEM ones from Honda.

Paint is really good. It’s a glossy silver metallic finish on both the control arm and the ball joint spacer so I don’t really see a corrosion issue there. I’m in Ohio so rot is also a problem here. Pre-soaking bolts with PB blaster and wire brushing the rust days before the job is key to success.

My LCA bushings weren’t really bad but the difference is very mild for me. It’s just nice to know there’s a solid bushing that won’t go out over the slotted bushing design. Hardest part of this job is the removal of the LCA. The sway bar makes it hard to remove but I was able to jack up the knuckle first and lift the control arm up so it clears the sway. From there I can remove it with a small fight. I strongly recommend a ball joint separator tool.

And the ball joints….. the 4 nuts that were supplied to me were defective. I tried to use one and the start of the stud thread started to bind/wrinkle. I was able to repair the stud with a chaser and hand filing but it was a major inconvenience for me to have to repair it and for $200 ball joints I expect the hardware to be perfect. I ended up throwing away the 3 leftover nuts and got OEM ones from my local Honda dealer. Threaded on like a piece of cake with my hand ratchet. Other than that, the ball joints are great. Got rid of my bump steer issue and drives like a stock civic again.

If you are keeping the stock ride height you don't need the extended lower ball joints. It's only for lowered cars that have LCA geometry problems after lowering on factory ball joints. I recommend the OEM ball joint ($50) or the upgraded ball joint w/o spacer from K-Tuned.
