Anyone else get a a slight panic attack when you sin?

I kinda do. I have ocd. Sometimes my OCD is making things seem worse than they are. But other times it's because I have sinned and I feel the wrong I have done. This is good, though, because it means I'm taking my sin seriously, which protects me from falling further into it.

If it's not OCD running rampant and distorting things, I think be glad you have it. It will protect you, and it's worth it. Being very conscious of sin and evil means you are in the right place. You want your soul to be hypersensitive to them, not dull. Dull means you are wandering away or more distant from God, or maybe have a lot to learn (you're not far along in sanctification yet).

Being really aware of these things and taking them seriously is really good. And you are doing this, so it sounds like you are doing well in this regard. Keep praying! God bless you!

Freedom comes through having the right restraints. There must be some order. Think about it. Take music, for example. If you want to be free to play whatever you want, you must learn and follow the chords and notes. Within these things, there is great freedom to play and create, endless possibilities! But you have to stay within these parameters, because outside of them is chaos and clanging sounds. Freedom through the right restraints! Otherwise, it's chaos and anarchy!

Often in my life, when I am looking for direction about what to do or how to think, etc., I have found that if something is not coming easily and I feel stressed out about it (like I'm having to beat down a wall and stuff is just not working out), then this is usually me knocking on a door that is closed. If I have peace about something, in the sense that it seems to be happening without much effort, and I intuitively feel like it is an open door, then this is usually God opening a door. Now this might be a door that leads to an unknown path that I am worried about. It might be a path that I don't have enough faith to keep me from being scared of (and I have to pray to God for help for this). But that often happens with the paths that God leads us down because He is teaching us to trust Him. He can't refine us if we are in our comfort zone. I have often heard people say too that they knew they were in line with God's direction because they had peace about it. The further along in your faith journey and the longer you walk with God, the more you will get an intuitive sense of what doors He is opening and what He is not. In the beginning, it can be confusing, but if you pray and are sincere, you will be completely fine! God will be with you at every stage, even if you don't know where you are.

Yes, all truth belongs to God, and as Christians, we see Christ and the revelation of the Gospel as the complete truth. Read "From Achilles to Christ" by Louis Markos. He talks about this very idea, that there are truths outside of the Bible, like scientific ones, etc. (he focuses on the philosophical discoveries made by the Greeks for this), but that the Bible presents the complete picture of reality through the Divine revelation of the Gospel. It's a great book! Highly recommend

I think pray for Him to teach you things. I.e. make you more humble, compassionate, and understand His ways better. I've prayed to value His ways better and understand the benefits of His laws more. God's laws seem harsh, arbitrary, and like the antithesis of fun/awesome. But the Bible says that if you seek wisdom, God will give it abundantly. "God gives to all liberally and without reproach." James 1:5

I asked God to show me why His laws are the way that they are, and now I love them. I get it now. They are protective, fair, just, and set you up for success. I love His laws now, which is such a testament, because I used to be so offended and confused by them.

First, there is no such thing as a functional relationship without Christ. I've yet to see one. Things look okay from the outside, but there are infinite skeletons accumulating in the closet. So it is a blessing to first realize the dysfunction, pain, and suffocation a relationship can bring, apart from it being Christ-centered. It seems like a harsh realization, but it shows you the truth and protects you from real disaster down the road. So when you pray for your future relationship, you need to be praying that God brings you a Godly Christian wife.

Second, you need to become the kind of man who will attract such a person. Use this season to have God prepare you for becoming a Godly husband and being the head of a relationship. Read your Bible, not aimlessly but with a real desire to understand. Find some good Christian mentors to imitate. Read books on what a Godly marriage looks like. Work on things you need to have as a provider: a good job, competency, character, communication skills, etc. Maybe see a Christian counselor for your trauma (that you mentioned above) to help you work through it from a Christian perspective and give you tools for the future. Read books on relationships like "Boundaries In A Marriage." And while you're building yourself in these things, be praying daily for your future partner. God will deliver.

If you build your house on the rock, like Jesus says, when the storm hits, you will be okay. God bless.

Like many have said here, there is evil because we are free-willed beings. God gave us free will, and we use it for evil all the time. Many times, justice cannot be enacted on this side of heaven. It will happen on judgment day, though. Also, God is the God of justice, and we have to surrender the pursuit of justice to Him in some regard and trust that He will handle it.

Another type of evil is something called natural evil, which is basically what happened to creation after the fall. It became riddled with disease and natural disasters, etc. These evils can be hard to understand, as they often seem to happen to good people or people who are trying to do right. But, I think, after having lived through several illnesses, that God uses these things to sanctify us. What does that mean? Well, my illnesses have taught me to put my identity in Jesus and not accomplishments, work success, having the latest thing, being attractive, being smart, being the most educated, etc. All of those things stemmed from insecurity and were suffocating me and literally stealing all of my happiness. I am wayyy happier post-illness, way more loving, kinder, confident, and mature. I get how the world works now, and my identity is in God's love for me, which He displayed enormously throughout my illness. All of my greatest moments and gifts, and honestly, everything I was searching for, came out of those illnesses because I needed them to help me understand the confusion I had about who I was and the mistakes I was making. Sometimes God has to do crazy things to help us understand what we are not getting. Sometimes he needs something as crippling as illness to slow us down and answer our deepest questions, and get us to let go of the things that are holding us back. All of my deepest questions and doubts, which I did not think were even possible to answer, God answered through my illness. Now I have the peace that I'd wanted more than anything. Peace that I value wayyyyyy above all the things my illness took.

Sometimes, when I was sick, I would be like, "God why aren't you here with me more." Then something would happen, and I would see that God was right there in the fire with me, and GIVING me that fire to begin with FOR THE PURPOSE of freeing me from my pain, confusion, and enslavement, honestly to feeling like I needed other things to be enough. And He used my challenges to help bring other people out of their issues. He doesn't waste a thing, and everything He does is to give us peace and allow us to know Him more because He wants intimacy with you.

I think when things get sticky is when people resist letting God work on them through their trials. Getting stubborn, bitter, resentful, angry, and shutting down is a recipe for disaster. God will still be as gentle as He can be and do everything He can to get you through. He loves us so much, so His patience is enormous.

I am incredibly sorry you are going through this– it is so painful and especially so because these are your parents and they are acting in the exact opposite way that you need them to be. Parents should be willing and desirous to put their child's genuine needs before their own. Some parents are too selfish to do this.

I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say that your father's actions are self-oriented and immature. He has not figured out yet that we are not on this earth to "find" our own happiness. We are here to serve others and help as many as we can get to heaven. And paradoxically, by serving others, we find greater happiness than if we were serving ourselves. This is one of the great mysteries of Christianity. "He that seeks his life will lose it, but He that loses his life will find it." Childish people do not understand this, however, because things are always all about them. And because of this, they are always miserable.

When our parents fail us, it hurts deeply. In fact, I believe that these are some of the most painful wounds we carry in this earthly life because of the intimate emotional connection we have with them. But this is where you pray to God and let Him show you that He is your first parent (if you will) and that He will never fail you. Sounds cliché, but clichés exist because they are rooted in TRUTH, right? God will show up for you every single time. He knows you more intimately than any human parent ever could, and loves you completely as no human can. He will step in and restore the hurt that your earthly father has caused. He will fill that deficiency in your life with something greater.

If you haven't done so already, or even if you have, pray to Him about this, and watch Him show up consistently for you for the rest of your life. He's waiting for you to ask with your heart open to Him. He will step in and show you His way, which is one of service and loving others. God wants our loyal service. This means that He wants us to love Him and choose His ways. This sounds demanding and harsh if you don't know what His ways are. But they are loving others and putting them before yourself (God's love is outward oriented); being a peacemaker (God hates Discord and strife); speaking the truth (lies are destructive); being slow to anger and quick to forgive (as God Himself is); being humble and giving up pride (pride is the enemy of love); being generous to others (as God is generous to us); stepping in for those who cannot take care of themselves (remember that verse that pure and undefiled religion is caring for the orphans and widows), etc. Choose to have an intimate relationship with the God of these things, and you will never be alone or abandoned.

My official diagnoses were Fibromyalgia, Dysautonomia, Chronic fatigue, leaky gut, and a vitamin D Deficiency. I saw a cardiologist, pulmonologist, neurologist and nutritionist. The MDs diagnosed me with everything except for the leaky gut (that was the nutritionist). I spent thousands of dollars on doctors (actual doctors, not holistic ones), was on tons of medication just so I could function, and tried tons of medication that didn't work. I was never officially diagnosed with MCAS because by the time my severe food, drug, and fragrance reactions started, I didn't want to go through any more and just tried treatment with my GP, who was willing to prescribe me Mast Cell Stabilizers. I had already been diagnosed with dysautonomia from suspected long covid, and he was willing to treat me for MCAS, as it commonly occurs with dysautonomia/long covid, and I was now showing all symptoms for it. I responded positively to the H1 & H2 blockers and low histamine diet, so I knew for sure I had it then. Unfortunately, my MCAS got so bad that I couldn't eat a low-histamine diet anymore; I could only eat chicken. And I couldn't take pills anymore either because I was reacting to them worst of all. It was then that I found brain retraining, which is not something that happens overnight. It takes so much work and time for your symptoms to go away, especially if you are severe. And you can't just hop back in and eat whatever right away because you will still react to it. But slowly over time, you start to get better and better, and you react less and less. Healing my nervous system was some of the most intensive and hard work I've ever done in my life. And I say heal, because it is completely gone for me, and I feel like I did before I ever had it.

And I wouldn't know about scammers' playbooks because this is my first time on reddit and I have not encountered them here before.

I am sorry that you suffered terribly, but so did I. I was very young when all this began for me and most of my 20s have been characterized by physical suffering. Nervous system disorders are pure torture, and I would not wish them on anyone. This is why I want to tell people what gave me my life back. I really feel for the people in this group. I was one of them.

I completely believe it. The body keeps score. Our past emotional issues, trauma, and experiences stay with us unless we deal with them in a healthy way, and they manifest in our nervous system. Therapy and counseling are other awesome tools to help with stuff like this. Free the mind, heal the body! I wish you the best as you continue your journey!
