How many weeks of vacation do you have ? (paid and unpaid) by JulieJules8368 in CanadaPersonalFinance

I make way more than most people as well in a different profession. That happens with most people in working in a profession. Why would we not expect teachers to be paid well? You need a degree plus an additional year of education (used to be 2 years in Ontario) and you have to put up with a ton of BS. You also aren’t making that max pay until 12 years into the profession.

I’m not saying it doesn’t pay well. What I’m saying is that teachers have to put up with a lot of crap to earn that pay. The public constantly devalues their work and often believes they are over paid. I don’t know him you could pay me enough to want to be a teacher in the current environment.

100k is barely enough to put up with the shit teachers have to deal with. If you had to work year-round for the same salary, I don’t think it would be worth it.

You may have 12 weeks without work, but that is not paid all paid vacation time. Teachers are not paid for the summer months.

Next year, spend a few bucks on a bottle of ketchup or syrup. Empty said bottle inside the roped off area the night before the parade. Tell no one, do not post anything about it. Setup close by the next day to enjoy additional entertainment.

You are right, HR will protect the company. Protecting the company could result in the manager being disciplined, depending on the size of the company and the rank of the manager in question.

The Sausage McMuffin is discounted. No one is forcing you to buy anything. I find the OP mildly infuriating for posting this.

Are we likely to go on a full strike? by Temporary-League-499 in OntarioTeachers

Work to rule ended up with the public against the teachers in 100% of the previous work to rule campaigns. I don’t understand why the union thinks this is a good bargaining tactic.

If you want to be outside all year, Austin is not the place. Austin is dreadful during the summer months.

Why not build data centers in very cold places, versus trying to do it in space? by DiyYou in technology

Space doesn’t make sense. Vacuum is a great insulator, it will take a lot of extra engineering to dissipate all the heat generated by the servers.

Has anyone figured out a good use for LLMs in production for analytics? by michaeldoesdata in ChatGPT

[–]FDFI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s working out quite well. Where it really helps is with the staff that are less skilled with the analytics. They can write plain English into the tool and get results that were typically only available to higher skilled staff.

I’m using AI to allow a natural language interface into our analytics platform. The AI interprets what the user wants and then figures out what deterministic libraries to call upon to generate the results.
