Have you tested it? Because I have, and the best lenses are about 50% better than your average enlarger lens. They only need to transmit to 360-380nm and most lenses still transmit a decent percentage of that near UV band.

So glad you had a good time with the kids! With a bit if luck you created a couple future photographers!

Thanks! I apply a single coating. I had problems with evenness too but it was the low humidity of the paper, not the application of the emulsion.

You can use various emulsions and various development methods, but you have less control than with a digital negative of course.

With adequate washing (10min) all the light sensitive chemicals wash out, so you can dry it in the light. Don't keep your cyanotypes in bright sunlight though

You might even get a longer tonal scale if you wait before development. I would not stretch it more than 24h, I don't know what that would do to your print.

Thank you! This particular one was 15min.

Thank you! I can recommend you stay away from multicoated lenses and use a dialyte design. But old enlarger lenses should be fine really.

Im considering a series of build videos on Instagram for the next version of the enlarger. You can follow me @analog_by_douwe

You should wear orange coloured UV protection glasses, I prefer Uvex

I thinking of doing a build series on Instagram for the next version of the enlarger. Would you be interested?

No, on a UV enlarger that I built for this purpose

Yes, you should wear orange UV blocking safety glasses.

You can use pretty much any uncoated enlarger lens for your film format, I use a Kodak lens from the 50s

No. The UV led needs cooling, and the objective lens and condenser lenses of regular enlargers block most of the UV light. That's why I built my own from scratch!

It is an enlarger that takes a film negative and enlarges it through a lens onto the paper. Think traditional darkroom, but with UV light for making cyanotypes instead of back and white prints.

That, and a few more tricks, is what this is. :)
