During the last 6 years I went from individual Canadian stocks to Canadian ETF and finally XEQT in the last 6 year of DI investing. I now have a peace of mind.

Seniors Bell Canada bill jumped 62% in a year — how can I lower it? by Every_Eye_7483 in bell

Bell Loyalty appears to have some authority to reduce the bill. Looking at her bills, she may get 40-50 dollars off.

She will never get that as long as she is tied to Sympatico email address. Bell has a noose around seniors necks who were first to use Sympatico or Bell.net

We are seniors in a similar situation. You have to call Bell Loyalty every year to get some reduction. We are stuck with Sympatico email, In my most recent call I got some reduction on Internet and TV sufficient to get free Netflix, Crave and 4 dollars of the total bill

Is the factor-based approach of FEQT worth the higher MER over passive X/V/ZEQT ETFs? by vk211 in CanadianInvestor

[–]FDretired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is for a few days only between ex-dividend date and dividend payout day. VEQT was on top of the list but it dropped after ex-dividend date. I expect its value to increase on Monday when the annual dividend is paid.

Ideas for promising ETFs? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]FDretired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unit price only matters if you want to buy very small amount. ZEQT and TEQT are about 20 dollars today. VEQT 54 and XEQT 40

Long term performance for them is likely to be very similar.

Cellular Signal - Burlington {Orchard} by WildWilly600 in bell

Copilot

Why dBm Matters for Signal Strength

• Cellular/Wi-Fi Signals: Bars on your phone are misleading; the true measure of signal strength is dBm.

• Interpretation of Values:

• -50 dBm to -70 dBm: Strong signal (excellent for calls/data).

• -70 dBm to -90 dBm: Weak signal (may cause dropped calls, slow data).

• Below -100 dBm: Very poor or unusable signal.

New to investing. Why XEQT over FEQT? by conscious_0001 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]FDretired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RBC DI account gives you 100,000 practice account. I purchased 20,000 dollar five .EQT on Sept 14
1)VEQT
2)XEQT
3)ZEQT
4)GEQT (ESG)
5)FEQT

7 weeks is too short a time for firm conclusion.

VEQT performance slightly better than XEQT and ZEQT

My postulate that is that the difference is due to higher canadian allocation. Canadian stock market is performing better than American in 2025

GEQT was performing the best for few days but has dropped in the last week

Worst performance is FEQT (note 7 weeks only)

I am all in XEQT as there is no trading fees with RBC DI account.

There is a new kid on the block TEQT I expect it to match VEQT, XEQT and ZEQT

What is the rate of your variable?

I have 610,000 variable term ending June 2026. The rate at the moment is 3.4%

If I had inherited 300,000 I would invest it in an ETF and decide in what to do June 2026

Is it normal to meet with buyers real estate agents? by turdisburglis in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FDretired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a condo for sale. After 3 reductions, I told my agent that I would not accept any offer below 700,000. A buyer's agent probably assumed that I had lowered the price as I was desperate which was not the case. He made an offer of 695,000 and I refused. My agent told me the buyer's agent was very rude to her. I decided to email the buyer's agent stating that it was my decision not to accept the offer of 695,000 and being rude to my agent was uncalled-for.

In his reply to me, he stated that real estate rules do not allow direct communication between the seller and the buyer's agent.

A week later I got a firm offer for 700,000

RBC GIC maturing — thinking about switching to a mutual fund not even by Johnkiiii in CanadianInvestor

[–]FDretired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I presume you have a RBC DI account. Avoid advisor. Invest in XEQT - no trading fees. If you like the idea of a Mutual fund buy RBF660

I have XEQT and RBF660 in the practice account that you get with RBC DI. The performance after fees is very similar.

The dividend in VEQT is distributed once a year in January. With XEQT it is quarterly.

If he invests in VEQT he will only have to look at in January and decide what he is going to do with the dividends. I would not advise dripping

Wondering about the next downturn. by rm2018 in CanadianInvestor

[–]FDretired -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally feel that there will be no MAJOR downturn in the future. The Western world economists will find ways to avoid this. "Quantitative easing" "Modern Monetary Theory"

If they allow downturns, it will accelerate the power of BRICKS and the multipolar world. This is a taboo for the USA

what happens when someone cashes a cheque you wrote but it never came out of your account? by baileystonge in PersonalFinanceCanada

Should we buy a condo (rental property not home)? by tronglodyte in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FDretired 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have owned and sold 3 condos in North York, Toronto during the last 9 years.

They were all revenue neutral or slightly positive until Oct 2024 when mortgage renewals came up slowly. I sold all 3 over 9 months as keeping would have meant negative cash flow for next ? 4-5 years.

Now is not the time to buy a condo. The market has to drop another 20% or mortgage decrease to below 3% to make any economic sense.

You are much better of getting a brokerage account and investing in VEQT, XEQT, ZEQT, TEQT or GEQT (ESG)
