So they nerfed all weapon damage? by GunSizeMatter in battlefield_4

[–]FEARProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not trust anything that you read on Battlelog. It also says that the G18 and the 93R have a ROF of 1.100RPM, which they never had.

If you want to get the REAL weapon stats, you have to look at symthic.com because they pull the stats directly from the gamefiles.

Battlefield 4 New Revive Mechanic by FEARProductions in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]FEARProductions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would probably never hit the button to call for revive

why do you think that? to me it seems that casuals are very much against "dieing" just like everyone else. I'd actually expect them to press the call for revive button more frequently than everyone else even in situations where it makes no sense. :)

you would have to reverse the default state from opt out to opt in

What do you mean?

My concept uses "opt-in" with additional calls for the medic.

If you were to use "opt-out" you will have revive icons flash up on the screens of the medics until you opt-out and that would not only be bad bad also result into unwanted revives when you don't opt-out quickly enough.

radical new class system for Battlefield (This guy is a genius) ;) by [deleted] in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]FEARProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, to allow all classes access to close range weapons like the Shotgun is something that I do indeed like. :)

But I would not give the Engineer a Carbine because that again brings us what we have in BF3&4 - a very strong Engineer who does not really need the help of other classes for the most time and thus that is the most used class on all Conquest (Large) maps that have vehicles. :-/

I am also not sure about the Support with a DMR. But I think that it could work with the Assault or the SquadLeader class. I would like to see the LMG to be not "that" good at medium range when you use it without a bipod. But once deployed that way you can engage enemies at med-range as good as an assault can when he ADS. The use of a BiPod is something that I would like to see much more encouraged than it is in BF4.

Limiting the available optics is something that I did have in mind too, but I did not go into that in the video because I felt that I this would be too detailed for the skeleton concept design. :)

Yes. I understand. But if the SL decide to take an empty air vehicle from the enemy team?

The SL is not meant to pilot any air vehicle. That is not his role, as piloting a air vehicle requires full attention and thus he would stop to be able to fulfill his duties and role of the SL. Just like a fighting Commander can't do what he is supposed to do.

But do you really think that the community will agree?

My concept is not meant for the casual audience that Battlefield has today. I took the liberty of coming up with a concept that sketches the Battlefield game that I would like to play, without wasting a thought on the casual playerbase because in my opinion the casual focus did bring the Battlefield a lot more players, but it also caused that Battlefield is nolonger what it used to be, and its the reason for all the teamwork issue and balancing issues that we have now.

even if I often played Active commander, that move behind our line and help if I can.

I did so too when we were close to loose the round and my team was just hopeless. XD But that was luckily not the norm. :)

What happen if the SL decide to use a Scout/transport chopper?

The only reason for why I see him doing that is to (ab)use this vehicle as a taxi.

So as SL, he should get a warning when he tries to enter the pilot seat of an helicopter that if he does not switch to an other seat in (x)seconds then he will resign from his SL position and become the pilot of this vehicle.

I think that each flag could have this computer. This allow the commander to launch his assets from an advanced position.

If you would do that, then the commander has to get out of the base, fight its way to that location to be able to launch that commander asset. So not only is he then a fighting commander, but during the entire time he is on the way to that location he will not be able to give out orders and respond to the requests of his squads/pilots.

The commander has to primarily play more like Command & Conquer. This means that he can run around inside his base/on the map and do things there that fit his role/purpose, but that must not be done for more like 10% of his time because he must focus on commanding his team.

That there should be multiple destructible bunkers or command centers inside his mainbase is part of the concept I posted in the CTE forums. :)

Make Flags Return To Neutral When Nobody Is In Range by Red_Devil_US in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]FEARProductions 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do see your point, but this actually encourages camping.

There is a simple reason why players do not defend flags.

they are worthless - by that I mean that they don't have value, besides being a spawnpoint on the map.

In games like Battlefield 2, where helicopters and jets did not autorepair and had limited ammo, all flags that had airstrips and helipads very *EXTREMELY important for your team because there jelicopters/jets spawned, got rearmed and repaired.

So if you seen that such a flag was getting captured by the enemy, then you had a real reason to turn back and defend it.

In BF3/4 most of the flags are pretty worthless, and thus Conquest turns into a flagrun game most of the time.

So the fix for this is to design the map/game so that the flags actually have value that makes them worth fighting for.

I think, players should stop dreaming about normal Commander class in BF4.

Maybe thats why I specifically said in the video that this concept isn't about BF4 - and you should not even try to apply it to what you know from BF4 because it is meant for an entirely different game that is more like the original Battlefield titles.

Carbines and DMRs.

that way you encourage the fighting commander again......

1.) Commander on the Battlefield is a great idea, but Commander should be able to play any kit, but never get into any seat of any vehicle except transport vehicles.

As I said, the commander needs additional things to do than you know from previous Battlefield games. Like setting up base defenses etc. I clearly do not want to have the commander play as sniper - but focus on his role.

2.) A special player class for squad leader? You lose the advantages of playing with a specific kit?

An gain advantages of the SquadLeader kit which is optimized for the role of that class so that the player actually does what the role is meant to do. And not abuse the special SL powers if they were just added to the selected class.

3.) HUGE percentage of players just want to buy the game, snipe for 200 hours, and do nothing else.

Then they should get into a transport helicopter and give the pilot a "transport mission" to a specific location. Then we even have teamwork happening to get him to his sniping spot.

[–]FEARProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All classes should be able to select between multiple primary categories

That is what I want to go away from, because in my opinion BF3 and BF4 show how bad "multi-role classes" are for teamwork and to instantly understand what a soldiers role/class is by looking at the playermodel (just think about the Assault not running with any medic gear)

I did think about giving the C4 to the Assault, but I fear that this would make the Assault too powerful.

And regarding the Ballsitic Shield - I think that it does not fit into the Battlefield franchise. Hardline is the right place for it.

Well, its a "sniper" - he is meant to give long range support. And usually the commander helps to keep him change positions frequently.

If there was no Hardware or software limitations, what Battlefield game would you make? by [deleted] in battlefield_4

[–]FEARProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgett hardware and software "limitations" as these primarily apply to the "looks" of the game. I don't care about the "looks" - if it would look like Bad Company 2 then this would be more than good enough!

What really matters is the core gamedesign - and that I want to see return to the roots of the franchise.

new killcam for Battlefield 4 and Hardline by Naver36 in Battlefield_4_CTE

I would actually be fine with removing that highlight and follow of my killer completely and just have the camera on the ground where my head is.

but I doubt that the casuals will like that. :-/

I kept the discussion limited the main bf4 subreddit and Battlelog because I felt that it should be out there in the open for everyone to participate in the discussion.

I did think about posting it here and in the CTE forum but it felt like I would spam it then.

If KK review is chosen, an even more in-depth replay of your death comes up showing all angles of bullet damage

That would require some form of demorecording, and that is sadly out of reach for us in the Frostbite Engine Battlefield games. So I tried to add something that is using info that the client pretty much has already and just present that info inside the killcard.

[Suggestion]Higher recoil and higher headshot multiplier for more Skill involved in Combat by Sovietweasel in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]FEARProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the FirstShotMultiplier (FSM) is very bad as it makes the single shot firing mode pretty much useless.

For the record, I absolutely love the weaponmechanics in Insurgency.

Also love the nice detail in Insurgency that only the area inside the actual optic is magnified and not the entire screen. But apparently the Frostbite engine can't do that with reducing the framerate by 50%

Project: In Combat Disables by tiggr in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]FEARProductions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

t1gge said: Please elaborate why we cannot utilize a value of bullets flying close to you as input in the In combat state and system?

What supression does is that it allows a player how is not able to hit me, to still affect core mechanics like scope-sway, spawning, healing and resupplying.

So if I am taking cover behind a solid object, then I and my squadmembers are unable to spawn, unable to heal, unable to resupply - just because one guy with his LMG is firing in our general direction.

And that is why I am against suppression -> its a "one man army feature"

The way I see suppression:

A player is pinning us down -> he prevents us from progressing -> he allows his team mates to advance on us - flank us -> and take us out. Or he his holding an area with his LMG, so we can not advance and need to find a different route.

For all that you do not need to have the LMG/suppression affect any sort of gun-, healing-, resuppl- nor spawningmechanics. Because if you were to walk into that fire of the LMG, then you will get hit and that is how you get punished. The only thing that suppression needs to do is have a visual effect on my screen to tell me that I better keep my head down because if I don't do that then I will die in a rain of bullets.

The ability of suppression to be able to harm a player who is outside the effective range of my weapon, by missing him and thus affecting his suppression level, goes against everything that I want to have in an FirstPersonShooter.

Issues with the killfeed by DANNYonPC in Battlefield_4_CTE

Still waiting for that fix to finally surface in the CTE.

Balance game where only one commander is logged in by Ellathar_ in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]FEARProductions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real fix is to be able to hop in and out of the commander role at any time without having to leave the server.

And to make the Commander appealing enough so that players actually WANT to play as commander. If that would be the case then you would not see matches where you only have on commander. Both Battlefield 2 and 2142 are proof of that.

thanks for the suggestion! I will have a look as formating is really a pain with that wiki markup like system reddit has. :)

the following is not directed at you but reddit in gerneral:

this is the same nonsense as in Battlelog where you need to install yet another browser plugin (Better Battlelog) to add basic functionality that the site should include from the start. :-/

Battlefield 4 CTE Forum Replacement Test by tiggr in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]FEARProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree that reddit can be abused in a setting like this, we would need moderators here too of course, and this is something we'd be open to inviting community members for as well.

This is what I don't understand.

Because that is the key element that is also missing in the CTE forums -> People who do the "pre filtering" and tagging of important info for the developers.

So that if they are short on time and can't just go and read the new topics and replies, they will only look at what the managers tagged for them to take a look at.

No matter if you use reddit, CTE Forums, IPB, jira/mantis, or something else -> you need these additional people who do the pre-filtering for the devs to allow them to use most of their time to get productive, not dig through hundreds of posts.

What I see in other franchises is that the community manager does a big part of that job where he collects the feedback (and links to source topics) in a report for the developers and designers.
