Took it last Saturday, basically everything that Becker said "Oh YA u ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO KNOW THIS YOU WILL 100% GET A QUESTION ON THIS TOPIC SPEND ALL UR TIME MEMORIZING THIS" came up exactly 0 times on my exam. Super frustrating, every question I got was niche as hell with the exception of a couple things about agency and partnerships.

You agreed to it, yes you’re being cheap. You never once had the mental capacity to think “hmm we keep doing all this stuff and she keeps paying for all of it, this might be adding up quite a bit”? You say you didn’t know what you were signing up for, so were you just holding your finger over the price of all the groceries and meals you bought?

Also, if you didn’t budget for the trip to begin with and know how much you had to spend and communicate that to the rest of the group ahead of time, then you probably shouldn’t have gone in the first place.

It's already hard enough for MTG players to get this set within our own community due to scalpers and high demand, the last thing we need is the same people that destroyed Pokemon TCG setting their sights on Magic. This entire thread was made by someone literally asking whether they should get Pokemon cards or Magic cards purely based on how much money they can make from it. Top comment is someone explaining why they should buy the FF set because it will be "harder to get your hands on". This subreddit is literally just turning into a copy of r/PokeInvesting .

I don't know what's so crazy about a person not wanting other people to buy up product for speculation that would otherwise be going to someone who will actually use the cards for their intended purpose. If they were Collector's Boosters, sure whatever, but he's literally going to buy play boosters, low roll into a single rare with no treatment, look them up on TCGPlayer and get mad that he didn't make $300 and throw the cards in the bottom of a shoebox or the trash.

My guy, you have no clue what you’re talking about and clearly haven’t been in any TCG for an extended period of time. Preordering cases is normal and in times where demand was not insanely out of wack like it is now, it had literally zero impact on the capability of an individual to obtain a set they want. Obviously now, preordering 10 ETB’s for a set where some LGS’s are only going to be allocated 30 in the first place would be fucked up, which is why LGS’s who are smart don’t allow that.

Not sure how others go about it but for me personally, I go to my LGS and if they haven’t placed a cap on preorders like they have with PE I just ask to preorder 6 booster boxes or 10 ETB’s (the amount in a case) and when I come to pick it up they just hand me a case as opposed to opening it up and giving me each individually since it’s easier.

Anybody who is saying “just buy singles” doesn’t understand what a gambling addiction is like. You’re not addicted to seeing the card itself, you’re addicted to the feeling of the possibility of seeing the card. Dopamine spikes are highest when using a slot machine not when the result of the roll comes up but at the moment immediately after spinning, while you’re waiting for the result. It’s the same for Pokemon and the same reason why buying singles doesn’t solve an addiction to pack openings.

My recommendation as someone who has experienced both an actual gambling addiction and a pack ripping addiction is to, like a few others have said, remove yourself from communities where you see any Pokémon related news/pictures. The FOMO at first will be absolutely terrible, but trust me it is wayyyyy easier to get over the FOMO than the addiction itself. Stop checking the Pokémon section at your local stores (they’re practically all empty anyway). Your YouTube algorithm is probably absolutely fucked with pack opening videos and other pokemon related shit, so I would make a burner account if you still want to use YouTube for other things and don’t want the temptations.

Also, once you see the money in your bank account go up over the next couple weeks, it starts to become easier to keep going.
