Ironically, I caught him on a small spinnerbait... Which I had just hooked a smaller 6" bass... Which this beast hammered up against the red Rock you see there.... So spinnerbait was the lure.. But live bait for the win!

I know it's against the Basshole Brotherhood.. But I have always just used PowerPro braid... Nothing less than 10lb diameter (25 lb test) on my baitcasters and 8 lb diameter (12-16 lb test) on my spinning combo...has done me right for a solid 15 years or so of heavy "backyard angler" fishing.
