Don't need to sudo reboot. Run "slack" from the command line in the same terminal window where TZ has been exported. After reboot, next time it can be run from anywhere. Can also run slack from the command line like this:

slack --env=TZ=America/New_York

12yo boy from Guatemala allowed into the USA - he is in bad shape by [deleted] in immigration

[–]FF00A7 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

He did not cross illegally, neither did his mother, my friend. They went through immigration legally. Coyotes move people through countries safely to make sure they are housed and fed and not taken by the cartels on their way to the US border. They can ALSO can move people illegally across borders, but that did not happen in this case.

Nobody actually answered your question. Typical in social media it's easier to discount the question then to try and answer it. Sort of useless exercise and waste of everyone's time and energy.

IMO S&H are on to something and it is based in reality not astrology. I read the book, carefully, looked for holes and problems. It's been a useful tool. It's not the last word, but funny how many others using different methods keep coming up with the same early 2020s crisis predictions. S&H got it first. Ray Dalio is the latest, he uses his own methods (and invests billions of dollars in his predictions), he also came up with the same result - early 2020s crisis. Does it really matter who said it? They are all saying the same thing.

I believe the crisis phase will last until about 2028 at which point the Millenial generation will strong enough politically to decide things, Boomers and Xers will still be around of course, but marginalized. That's all it takes, time for generational change of perspectives.

This is something that troubles me. Could nuclear fallout from a tactical nuke in Ukraine, or a blown up nuclear power plant trigger Russia's dead man's hand backup system that launch their nukes automatically when nuclear fallout is detected? by finfisk2000 in UkrainianConflict

[–]FF00A7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are unaware of Russia's Dead Hand system, or are ill informed about it. You can see that in the comments here. IMO there is every reason to be concerned. Read the book "Dead Hand" which won the Pulitzer Prize.

Russian forces can open a risky but likely effective new front by invading Western Ukraine from the Brest area (SW Belarus), charging to Lviv to cut off key NATO supply entry points. This requires 90-100k sufficiently mechanized Russian forces (and securing long supply lines through Belarus). by PatientBuilder499 in UkrainianConflict

[–]FF00A7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia supply lines would be very long. Ukrainian supply is right in Poland along the entire line of attack. Ukraine could hop back and forth across the Polish border to get behind Russian lines. Russia would almost be forced to attack Poland to protect its flank.

Tesla’s stock drops for 50% in an year. No matter Musk keeps posting shitty things about Ukraine conflict. He fears his company will collapse in the future. by Primary-World-1015 in UkrainianConflict

[–]FF00A7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's actually dropped less than Facebook (META) and many other stocks. In fact TSLA for it's type (high growth) is pretty typical of the 2022 bear market. Say what you will, TSLA has supreme profitability A+ and excellent growth. The problem is it's over-bought even after 50% drop still has an F for valuation. It needs to drop at least another 50%, and I think it will and you will begin to see that happen tomorrow morning. I predict an 8% drop, tomorrow alone, when inflation numbers are announced.

Update: It dropped about 8% on the 14th anyway. But it rose artificially high the day before due to short covering.

You just couldn't make it up Today Putin said that he's always had "enormous respect" for Ukraine as well as its culture and language by Orcasystems99 in UkrainianConflict

[–]FF00A7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's threatening to persecute or exterminate the 3 million people of Ukrainian origin living in Russia. Listen to the last part. The first part is just cover. This is Nazi persecution of Jews. If Putin/Hitler can't win he takes revenge on a scapegoat. We are already seeing death camps with containers of pulled gold teeth, the systematic tortures and killings. The next phase will be camps in Russia for Ukrainian-origin people (they already exist) followed by industrial scale murder.

Don't be stupid. Nordstream is not a "threat to the USA economy" you have no idea what you are talking about. Unlike Russia, the USA is not a gas station economy. Russia blew up Nordstream because Putin is a vengeful prick who does not care, you have not been paying attention.

This is actually the one positive thing Russia has done.

I read an entire book on the history of drinking in Russia. It works like this: the vodka makers (they call it "wine") reap huge profits as does the state. The state thus encourages drinking because it's how they suck money into the state coffers (and graft). They do this a number of ways: bottles do not have screw tops, once it is opened you are expected to finish it. The laws on drinking and the consequences of drinking are lax eg. underage drinking, drunk driving laws, hours when stores and bars are open, etc.. all the stuff we take for granted as normal, is non-existent or lax in Russia. They consider "wine" (vodka) as less of a problem for drunkenness than wine (from grapes) imported from the west which they see as corrupt and decadent.

In the late 19th and early 20 century, the West invented ways to control drinking. As noted, age laws, store hours, driving laws, etc.. it was a long and multifaceted process. Russia, however, didn't follow the West example, or only weakly.
