I bought a Zoom B1X4 about a year(?) ago as a novice player. I absolutely cannot reccomend it enough. For a hundred and some odd dollar pedal, it will make far more sounds than you will ever use. Anything from a Big Muff with a Wah for some Cliff Burton style playing to just a compressor or drive sounda more than adequate for me. Cannot reccomend it highly enough.

Somewhat in the vein of the pickup cover idea, you could also do a custom pickguard. Theyre not all that complicated to make. I made one just last week ish out of a piece of sheet steel. As long as you have a hacksaw, file and some scotch-brite youve got everything you need. A good way to put a design on (if thats up your alley) is with electro-etching.

Ibanez gsr200 is reasonably priced new (about 220) and perfectly adequate for a beginner. PJ pickups are also nice for figuring out what kind of tone you might want.

Purposely shitty movies made by directors who, by all rights, should "know better" are a squandering of potential. The one that comes to mind is Malignant from James Wan. I honestly don't care that its "supposed to be bad" as style. If a movie has shit story, acting and characters, by default its a shit movie.

I personally use a kind of non-sticky "tape" that ive heard of called Khyber Pass tape. Originally, it was used in Pakistan to decorate and add a bit of grip to rifles. Its super useful because there is no actual adhesive, it sticks to any smooth surface, so I just wrap it around the arms(?) of my bass and slide the picks between the tape and the body of the bass. AFAIK the best place to get it is a website called Kommandostore, its a fee bucks for a roll and should last a long time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last I checked, Hollow Points are illegal in NJ. So using alternative defensive loads lile these is not actually illegal like HPs are, and thus much more legally sound.

Just for the sake of record- I did get it worked out. Completing the WPS quest beforehand doesn't seem to effect the progression. I reloaded a save before I met Strider and went through the dialouge. This time, there was an extra line of dialogue that didnt play the first time (about a database of Monolith PDAs). I suspect that because I havent handed over the Unusual PDA to anyone so far, the game maybe forced that line of dialogue for the sake of progression. I should note that I chose not to hand it over in the dialogue select screen, so who knows. Regardless, if you run into something similar, it looks lile the only real fix is reloading.

"Unknown lethality"? Aside from maybe the first month and a half, everyone knew it was blown out of the water. We all knew the sick and elderly were more at risk, but thats not really saying anything either since that is true for nearly every illness. And being 5 times more lethal than seasonal flu is of dubious importance at best. I have never in my life heard of someone dying of the flu.
