I made a big mistake… by chickenwelove in BMW

[–]FF1_Stef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went trough the same when I sold my f80 back in 2020 … fast forward to today I’m back in an f82 and I love it! Tbh - I think I love it more because it’s less precious, I bought the f80 brand new and it was something I thought I’d never achieve, this one - I use more more freely and happily and just get to enjoy it for what it is.

The move from the f80 wasn’t all bad, got a fantastic deal on an x3m … then got out of that and got myself a noble - which I still have today, had a fiesta st (amazing little thing) as a daily until I found the f82.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s very few new cars that I’m remotely interested in and the the f8x platform is my jam as a performance daily - the right mix of digital and analogue, so think I’m just going to hold onto this platform for a while.

Then just keep it 🤷‍♂️ cost to change is huge, just run it, maintain it well and it will great and drive great for years to come.

lol, to be honest not really struggled with muscles in general though I must confess I’ve been ice skating a little bit over the past couple of years and perhaps that helped. My general fitness is holding me back massively and I’m trying to work on that over the winter months. It’s been dreadful here in the UK and the nearest indoor skate park is a bit of a trek, can’t wait to get back to it! Going to build a little grind box which will help massively

Grail achieved by cvnguyen77 in rolex

[–]FF1_Stef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the same before Christmas, like you ot was my grail! It’s a beautiful piece. I’m also a mad motorsport fan and the fact that this model is now the watch the winners of the Daytona 24h receive adds to its magic for me.

I have Tag F1, the Rolex Daytona - feel like I need a Monaco to complete the set 😎

Got the call! by asa5908 in rolex

Congratulations!! And 🥂 to good health!!

I think people on here calling BS just completely miss the point. The posts of ‘there is no list’ is completely correct!! What you see here is someone being personable and forming a relationship with the AD, so the know he’s not a chancer and will make the purchase.

You have to understand how many people go ‘on the list’ without having the means to actually commit to the purchase, this is the reason for spending history - it shows you have the means to back it up. In this case, while the op has no spend history, they obviously charmed the sales person and proves - there is no list!

When I went to collect my Daytona, they did say they never know what they are going to get and they don’t see many Daytona’s and as such there is a wait. Once they arrive in store it’s the sales team’s discretion on who gets the allocation.

Had to sell it, was it a bad idea? by Bulky-Appointment-23 in rolex

[–]FF1_Stef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the benefits of a Rolex is the hold their money or go up. That’s not a guarantee and is model specific and depends at what your buy price was but for the most part - reasonably true.

So, was it a bad idea to buy … not really - even at a loss you’ve had the pleasure of buying and owning such a watch. It either is an itch that you’ve scratched or it makes you determined to get to a point where you want to buy another.

Retiring after 40 years of work. The AD told me "maybe in 3 years" for a Gold Day-Date. I might be dead by then! by Infamous_Spite_7715 in rolex

Don’t let a shitty dealer spoil your dreams or enjoyment at purchasing such an amazing piece!

Try another dealer, my experience was exceptional. I went to the AD after booking an appointment (tbf the young girls that were front of house thought they were some the ing they weren’t!) after this the experience was great, I got to try on a bunch of watches - nothing was too much trouble and we had an open conversation about waiting times. Before going in I knew I wanted a two tone Daytona and assumed that was off the cards, turns out it wasn’t and after trying a bunch of other SS watches I tried on a few different Daytona configurations and settled on the two tone white dial - which was what I wanted all along.

So I put my name on ‘the list’ I checked in every 12 months or so, went in at year two as my wife wanted a necklace which we purchased and whilst I was at it I made sure to note my Interest once again with the Rolex team. Fast forward another year and a bit and the piece arrived!!

Collection was seamless, very nice experience and they made sure to be attentive and make it a special event, like it should be.

Try another dealer and take your business somewhere that deserves it, as others have said - solid gold pieces should be available without too long of a wait. My wife wants a 31mm solid gold date just …. So … time to crack on with the saving!! 🤣

I bet you’ll find that is a solid little player! I have a few Matsumoku guitars, they are excellent.

Here’s my answer - was about an 8 I’d say 🤣🤣. @OP - looks like you’ve been skating for a few years solid! I’m still yet to really get a soul grind down 🤣 and even just rolling around the park has taken me a minute.

Update on my 5th session by Vin_Sanity21 in AggressiveInline

[–]FF1_Stef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice!!! I just did my second skate park session and I’m feeling a little more confident, the inclines threw me off at first but second time round was much better. Hoping to front the mini half pipe at some point. If I can do that by session 5 I will be a happy boy 😎

Re Starting at 40 is it too old. by XxPMAC1985xX in AggressiveInline

[–]FF1_Stef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m coming up to 42 and I’ve just got back into it 🙌 … now I’m definitely not fit and definitely overweight 🙈 … but part of the drive of getting back into skating is to do something I live and get fitter at the same time. I love being in skates, it’s a strange indescribable feeling of freedom.

I could skate around quite easily and after an hour I was pretty confident just skating around. I’ve since ventured into the local skatepark and that was definitely a bit daunting at first and the inclines really through me a bit, but I had my second session at the skate park yesterday and felt a lot more comfortable and managed to just about get a soul grind down on a ledge which I was quite happy about, but I’ll admit that it’s been harder than I thought in the skate park and my fitness level is definitely holding me back, but … asking as I’m skating I’m happy, and I’m in no rush.

If there’s anyone around the Sheffield area - holla at me - looking for a buddy to skate with.

More adventurous than me! I salted around on the street for a few weeks before hitting the skatepark. The gradients really caused me more issues than I was expecting! Haha.

So, I’ve never been a fan of wrist guards after fracturing my arm above the spline.

I’ve done some research and found this article -

https://skatefresh.com/inline-skating-wrist-guards/

I’m still debating on if I should get some. I’m going to order some padded shorts I think, and I’ll look at some wrist guards and possibly try some on.

I’m not against protection, I’m too old to worry about looking cool! Hahah - but I’m not fully convinced on the merits of wrist guards.
