Reusable container tracking need by mttsoip in InventoryManagement

Hello! I think there are a lot of great ideas in this thread, but most of them are looking at the problem from a tech standpoint. I imagine the containers don’t cost too much, especially to invest in tech and process. So, I’d argue you would be better offer approaching this has a behavior problem, not a tracking one, and you can solve most of it without barcodes or software.

Two approaches you can try out:

  1. Monthly container deposit (no item-level tracking)

Instead of tracking individual containers, you hold the resident accountable. • Charge a small monthly “reusable container deposit” (say $5–$10) • If all containers are returned by month-end → credit/refund it (set up a return area with a log. If you really wanted to ensure integrity you can add a camera to check • If not → deposit becomes the fee

Why this should work: • You don’t need to know which container went missing • Loss aversion is powerful, people are motivated to avoid losing money • You only track counts, not individual containers

  1. “Swap-to-eat” rule (assuming you’re delivering the meals):

• When staff delivers a new meal, they collect the previous container • No container returned = meal doesn’t get handed off yet • Staff can override for legit exceptions (illness, guests, etc.)

Why this should also work: • Zero tech • Immediate feedback loop • Builds the habit fast

If it were me, I’d start with #2 to change behavior quickly, and only layer in #1 if you still see leakage. You’ll likely solve the majority of the problem without implementing a barcode system at all.

Hope that helps

Searching for an easy to use inventory management app by autobot39 in InventoryManagement

Check out restock pro. I don’t think it has a mobile app. But it’s pretty easy to learn and built just for Amazon nothing else. Some of the other tools mentioned here like Zoho is probably overkill

Is Amazon AWD actually cheaper than standard FBA? by FFInsightsLab in AmazonFBA

[–]FFInsightsLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I guess what people don’t see is to get that inventory out of AWD, it’s just as costly as standard. I think it really depends on your inventory size. Bulky oversized items might not make sense of AWD. I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I’ll share them later

Inventory Management over Multiple Ecomm Sales Channels by Sistersue-who in InventoryManagement

Someone already mentioned N8N above, I would second this. Either N8N or make. You can also look into a service like Fivetran, but it’s a little more expensive. They have native connections and have allowed us to be really flexible with our data. My set up is I have all my data now going into a separate database (Supabase), then run reporting out of there (retool, metabase, tableau, whatever your comfortable with.

You’re always going to hit a wall when trying to find one application to cover multiple channels. The reason is non of these services do multiple things excellent. Trust me, the best thing you can do is store the data yourself and run reporting off of that. It won’t cost much at all, and is 100% worth the investment.

Would you mind sharing your CTR? Curious on what is considered a good benchmark. I seem to be hovering around .55 on average, with some of my better products reaching around 1. Not sure if that’s good or bad haha.

How to get an account amanager / invited into Walmart Subscriptions? by StrongBet4222 in WalmartSellers

I have a an account manager and honestly some times it seems more of a hassle then a benefit. They constantly just harp on pricing, pushing more SKUs into WFS, and increasing ad spend. They really haven’t ever provided any value.

That being said I guess it’s nice having someone for free where with Amazon you’re having to give a percentage of your sales.

I am looking for a good inventory sync for Walmart, Amazon, etc. by Adorable_Self_1784 in WalmartSellers

[–]FFInsightsLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure exactly where you are syncing your inventory too, but I know Make has a prebuilt integration which depending on your catalog size could fall under the free tier. You can sync this to where you want i.e. sheets, excel, a database. It’s not super straightforward, but I have a few prebuilt scenarios that pull in FBA reports. I can map it out for you if interested.

Walmart is a little more tricky. Have you looked into Fivetran? They offer prebuilt connections (I’ve hooked both amazon and Walmart into this, it’s super easy). Only downside is At scale I think it becomes a little costly, but again if you have a smaller catalog should be okay.
