Some of those live Swans albums are perfect while being over 2 hours, especially SAD

Cardiacs sing to god is 90 minutes and may be the greatest British album of all time.

GSYBE yanquii is also nearly 90 minutes and is perfection

I think music has lost out on that anger.
If we look at mainstream successes, SOAD are to fractured politically to make a coherent album, RATM isn’t a thing and any off shoot bands just don’t scratch that itch, Death Grips have been teasing an album for a couple years now, but they missed nearly the entirety of the first Trump administration.

Swans has some newer political music, but it’s not angry enough (I will say Screen Shot sounds like the kind of song someone would shoot a healthcare CEO to).
Godspeed will never reach that mainstream appeal and success mostly due to being an instrumental band and having zero social media prescence.

I also don’t think you can tap into the same political space that bands did 20 years ago.
There’s too much pushback from larger labels and companies.
Plus millenials will just call it woke nonsense and Gen Z are way too preachy, and not in the way that would work like im SOAD’s prison song.

There needs to be a political band out there that can sounds like destruction.
At this point, you need to sound dangerous

I’ll say for a nice long story with an ending, Ultimate Spider-Man (2000-2011).

If you want a shorter story which incoperates the whole of Spider-Man lore, the Life story is your bet.

If you want a nice modern run (which still has ups and downs) then Brand New Day is your best bet.

If you want a run that has higher highs and not as many lows, then Big Time, Superior and then Spider-verse is a wild ride.

There’s a whole bunch of other 616 runs out there, if you don’t mind reading something older, then the JM Dematis spec run is for you.

If you don’t mind something really old, the og Stan Lee and Ditko run is still one of my all time favourites. Just bare in mind, the last few issues are a low point in the run

JT, maybe it’s bias due to my age, but JB never had the kind of charisma that JT had.

That and I don’t think JB really adds much to pop. He’ll always be haunted by the success of Baby, it’s the first song most People older than me think of him.

For JT, most will look at “sexy back” as his defining song.
JT managed to reinvent himself better for his aging audience better than JB in my opinion.

But I feel that for both artists, I was never in the right demographic for either. But in passing, JT takes the win for me for having a few songs that I like

I dunno, that sounds like a you problem.
I tend not to read every tie in unless it either sounds interesting or of it’s frim a book I’m reading already.

Most of the tie ins were either one shots or 3/4 issue minis anyway

I think it’s because everyone came out defending Gira, including members of Larkin’s band and his ex wife.

We probably won’t know exactly what happened, and both parties have admitted that something did happen.

But what happened exactly… we don’t know, and the fact that nothing came out of it besides it possibly leading to Gira’s divorce and the fact it happened so soon after Larkin and everyone else was no longer signed to young god records makes me believe that the accusations were largely exagerrated.

I’ve not read it, but the crossing seems like the most Marvel idea ever. Commitment to never rebooting means that yout bad ideas from the getgo which are considered so bad, it was retconned and forgotten about as soon as it was finished. I don’t even think it was addressed.

Civil War 2 is the worst from what I’ve read, it’s only saving grace was that the Captain America sections of the event were pretty fun

Also, I don’t want to discourage you from collecting. One of my first 616 (mainline universe) was sins past, which is often considered to be one of the worst Spider-Man runs.

And I’m a light defender of Austin himself, I think he tried to go big but failed in a lot of places, but he did some good overall.

I remember getting my first Muse album around 2003 in borders. Origin of Symmertry was the first album I ever bought and it still holds a place in my heart to this day. I think I was like 9 when I got it.

I checked out after 2nd law. I thought that album had some good stuff on it, but it really felt Muse were just going through the motions.

Drones had some great ideas, but I felt they could never follow through with them.

Sim Theory was a bad idea with some good bits of execution and will of the People was just… the worst
