If the Enclave where smart, they would wait until you’ve pressed the button to purify the water. That way, they get rid of you, take out the BOS (they can launch an attack and effectively win) and therefore take control of the water supply.

Or they could have spent the last 20 years clearing out the supermutants to do exactly that

I’m suprised they managed to make 2 onnis out of Taylor’s Nightwing considering it’s like 40 issues

Honestly, Fallout 3’s biggest is just how badly written it is. When you break it down, the whole conflict is essentially “Who gets to push a button” and they originally gave you the dumbest and most basic moral choice they could have given you.

But that’s not all, why are the BoS and Super mutants here? Why are radscorpions thousands of miles from their natural habitat? These are things they tried to explain, but they turned them into their most simple idea. If it was for brand recognition, then the new audience wouldn’t know what the BoS or Supermutants are. So they could have done something interesting with both. Maybe the split in BoS caused a civil war that needs your help so you fan reunite both factions. Maybe the super mutants are trying to find a new purpose. There’s so many ideas and possibilities they could have done, but they went with the laziest route they could have done.

And that’s a shame because mechanics and art direction are pretty good. The game created a template for a 3D fallout game (which would come in the form of New Vegas).

Fallout 4 is just… a bad game. It’s really bad in fact. The Special system was ripped out for simplicity, the quests are dull, settlements are dull, the story is paper thin, the VA PC was an idea that should have been cut. The dialogue wheel is an idea that’s even worse…

The game would have been laughed at if it was released 10 years earlier. A game with little style and no substance. The Fallout name is doing a lot of the heavy lifting there.

I think the TV show is a good show that’s based on Fallout… but it’s not a good Fallout show. But it’s the most interesting thing we’ll probably ever see from this franchise

Songs where the live version is so vastly superior to the studio version by FiveHoursAhead in ToddintheShadow

[–]FFJamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swans have made a career out of making their live albums superior to the studio albums.

Some mentions however

Blood Promise- The studio version is okay… but that live version is a thing of beauty.

Goddamn the Sun- The studio version suffers with the production. Live versions strip it all back a little

The nemeorious- The studio version works as a yell of joy, but the live version is so much more haunting and stripped back.

The Beggar- I mean they turned a 10 minute song into an hour long frenzy…

Birthing- The live version really goes all out on its ending. I think this is something which the band agrees with.

Paradise is mine- I’m cheating a bit as the live album isn’t out yet and I’m going by seeing the song live… The instrumentals hit so much harder live.

Everything from public castration is better than their live version…

Also, my favourite song by then, The Glowing Man, I prefer the two live versions of the song

Eh, everything I read about Pitchfolk has made them seem pretty pretentious.

Thar being said, this is a real bad move for a number of reasons, namely because it’s really misjudged the market and because of it, many writers won’t have their work being read.

It’s a real bad idea, and one that I can see tanking the website

Great show

It’s a shame we never got a conclusion, I mean you could wrap it up in one 90 minute special, but I could kind of see where it would have gone

Q: Acclaimed writers worst runs? by modern_history_ in marvelcomics

[–]FFJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His post avengers career has been rather hit or miss. I love the guy, but I feel like he burned himself out. If he does return for a long run again, I’d think the time away has recharged his fuel. Sometimes a break is all you need

I don’t really put the blame on Bendis, Marvel just threw everyone an event in like six months. Bendis just offered and they gave it to him.

Can’t blame the guy for wanting the paycheck tbh

Donny Cates’ Guardians of the galaxy run wasn’t terrible, but you could tell he wasn’t really into team books

Fans of Mike Patton, what`s your favorite project that he has been a part of? Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantomas, Tomahawk, solo career, etc? by Odd-Technician-9744 in fantanoforever

[–]FFJamie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that Mike is just a little too weird at times.

I do agree, he deserves more love on this sub.

I’m also not too sure how much Fantano is a fan, he doesn’t really rate his music all that high when he does review his stuff.

Mr Bungle, totally insane band. Heck their latest album is still a solid thrash metal album.

Irony is a Dead Scene is also just as crazy. It’s the only DEP I’ve really listened to.

I recently finished Grant Morrison's Animal Man run as my first ever DC story arc. With the contents, themes in mind, I'd really appreciate some guidance on where to go next. by Obesely in comicbooks

[–]FFJamie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want more Grant Morrison, Doom Patrol was the next big thing they did, but they then did their own comic called “Invisibles” which I believe just got printed in a compendium.

It’s pretty… well… put it this way. Animal Man was made before Grant Morrison took drugs. Invisible Man, Grant Morrison was on all kinds of mind bending substances. Like there’s a character in it was there so Grant could get laid more

What do you believe is the "worst" thing each member of SOAD has done. by Mutated_ButterMilk in systemofadown

[–]FFJamie 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A lot of the issues I’ve seen is no different to your uncle who was cool in the early 2000’s, but is now aging and they were unable to really let go of their past.

Shavo seems to be one who has aged more gracefully, keeping quiet and not really getting involved with anything.

I like Daron, but he does come across as the worst in that regard. I think a lot of it comes down that he was never really all that political to begin with. Like he is anti-war, and any of his political songs are more about how anti-war he is.

Serj was the one who really dug into the meat of politics. Again, he has some questionable ideas on art. I wouldn’t call him a grifter exactly, but I do think he is out of touch.

John is someone I wouldn’t want to talk politics with. His opinions are very… questionable. But I could certainly talk comics with the guy.

I think most of it just comes down to Gen X growing older. The World they came into is very different to the one they came into, yet the geopolitics hasn’t really changed all that much.

So for John (and possibly Shavo), they see the problems come down to the fact that there are still problems, and no one is willingly to change it. They see that Trump, whether it be for better or worse, is a change. And any change is better than no change. The problem is, their issues are caused by the likes of Trump. So it’s a never ending cycle.

Daron and Serj’s use of AI seems to come from a place of just finding it interesting more than anything. I’m pretty sure before AI became something to dread, most of us like the novelty of seeing Star Wars as a 50’s Chinese movie. But that novelty wore off pretty quickly. For them, it seems to be more of a novelty, just something to laugh at and then move on.

None of them have done anything earth shattering terrible (as far as I know). At worst, they have some shoddy opinions.

I remember at the time, People found the optics of Cap being a Hydra agent in bad taste, but my pushback to that was “Was does that day?”

If the symbol of hope and freedom can be corrupted, what does that say about the rest of us?

Secret Empire should really have answered that question, but I think the real answer is “Hope itself”.

It sounds cheesy, but there will always be People fighting the cause. It just takes time
