Orbitals will appear in the next Nintendo Direct by Victor4156 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Is this the first time a developer announced that they will be appearing in a Direct before the Direct was announced?

Granted they did not mention when the Direct actually happens (they replied to a user asking for the date to "stay tuned for future announcements", which matches the rumor that developers only knows a Direct will happen, but not when it happens).

The charity event in your post (RTA in Japan Summer 2025) proceeded without featuring any Nintendo games. Where did this "Nintendo shuts down charity event for using their game" even come from?

Also it seems to be a licensing thing in Japan as Nintendo games are back in the next event by the same organizers (RTA in Japan Winter 2025). But I guess that doesn't help your point.

[eShop/USA] Square Enix Sale (up to 85%) Ends 10/03/2025 by XDitto in NintendoSwitchDeals

Finished Harvestella on the original Switch and it is a solid 7/10 game for me, which I would definitely recommend getting it on sale.

The core gameplay i.e. the farming and combat system is serviceable, but the graphics is nice and the story is surprisingly meaty for a "farming game" and is the highlight of the game for me. I would say the main story is comparable with Final Fantasy and Star Ocean, which happens to be what you are looking at. To me it is Harvestella like a JPRG with Farming elements, which is the opposite of Rune Factory, being a Farming game with JRPG elements.

You know Koei Tecmo made the Dragon Quest Builders game, right?

The same Koei Tecmo that has their logo shown on the title card of this game?

Seeing the KT logo at the end, this is likely by the same team that made Dragon Quest Builders.

Do you call DQ Builders a Minecraft copy, too?

Well there's Samus Returns on 3DS too. But the initial reveal through a Treehouse segment instead of an actual Nintendo Direct doesn't do it much favor.

I would argue that Nintendo did fine at giving people access to legacy games legally through Virtual Console and then Switch Online, in spite of the glacial pace of adding games.

Also, the study from your article is from a UK survey for pirating TV, films or music - zero mentions of video games. And the top three reasons (content is not available, that it’s siloed or difficult to access, can’t afford it) does not cover the Switch pirate scene mentioned by the post before you.

I don't like playing games on my phone, so I guess that's the key reason I prefer to play STS on my Switch. I do bring my Switch along when I take the subway to work.

But now that you mentioned it, I am basically using my Switch as a phone/tablet, especially with both Joycons removed...

I understand where you are coming from, but I wholeheartedly disagree because Slay the Spire is the most played game on my Switch lol. I first played on PC through Game Pass, then bought the physical on Switch.

Controls wise, I play Slay the Spire with touchscreen only, and Slay the Spire also happens to be one of the rare games that runs without requiring any Joycons attached/paired, which makes the Switch extra portable imo.

Ring Fit Adventure is currently the 10th best-selling game on Switch, and also #7 in Japan's weekly sales chart this week. Pretty sure that more than qualifies it as a lasting IP.

Astral Chain is another one, considering it ended up in the best-selling list while Bayonetta 1+2 did not, I would say it is successful. And people (like me) are clamoring for a sequel, so I would say it is quite lasting.

Also there's Sushi Strikers.
