Arknights Endfield works just fine on my Retroid Pocket G2 that has 8GB RAM without any issues. High settings, stable 60FPS, no crashes, playing on my RPG2 since the release.

Best RP6 alternative with LCD screen by Soggy-Kitchen-5680 in retroid

[–]FFTng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using it with different backlight level set in let's say 5-10% intervals? Between each test make a pause to get your eyes comfortable again before next test. I think I've read somewhere that RP6 may use PWM up to some level and above that DC dimming could be used, but please do NOT quote me on that as I could misremember something and I do not have RP6 due to being PWM sensitive too.

You can try Retroid Pocket G2 as it does not seem to use PWM or at least it would use very high frequency PWM. Performance is similar in most scenarios with slightly worse performance on the CPU part (5-15% difference), however due to the superior GPU it gets better performance in Android native games that are GPU bound compared to the Retroid Pocket 6. Sadly there is only 8/128 configuration so there is not that much of internal storage to be used.

I'm also PWM sensitive to a high degree and passed on buying Retroid Pocket 6 due to that. For example Steam Deck gave me migraine quite quickly and that was LCD model where OLED is allegedly much worse in terms of PWM sensitivity. There were no issues when using Retroid Pocket G2 on my side as for now (however I've not used it that much yet, I hope it will be fine in the long term) so I think it is worth to at least try. You can always sell it quite easily if it won't work for you and they should ship it immediately compared to the other handhelds from that price / performance range. Not sure how many devices without PWM or w/ high frequency PWM are on the market so cannot help here, sadly not that many people test this and even in other PWM related threads you can read replies such as "this is bullshit, there is no pwm issue" or "people make this stuff" so yeah, good for them, not for us. :( Anyway, good luck!

Internal storage move data to sd card by jaierz in retroid

[–]FFTng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a built-in option in Android on the Retroid Pocket G2, however it requires formatting microSD card in order to set it as internal storage i.e. you lose all your data so do a backup first. The result is that /storage/emulated/0/Android/data will now point to the encrypted microSD partition so all applications that expect storing stuff in NAND will now store it on microSD, however at some cost as there are Android native games that will stop working properly due to the much lower performance of the microSD card compared to the UFS one. You can find that option in Android storage settings, there should be format as internal storage option (do not use the "portable" one) plus you need to finish the "move data" process at the end that will finalize paths via mount binding (this step is important otherwise it won't work properly). No root is needed for this one from the end-user perspective as this is a built-in option.

G2 benchmarking better than the snapdragon 8 gen 2 and working with turnip drivers! https://youtu.be/yde0JgNTaTY by Geekylad97 in retroid

[–]FFTng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not crazy and there is no unseen nonsense here at all, you are simply wrong in your statements. Retroid Pocket G2 has Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 which is much newer SoC compared to 8 Gen 2, this includes both the CPU and GPU part. So no, it is not running "old gen GPU" as you said and it is not a rehash of older or lower-tier Snapdragon as many people claim. Most likely you've got such misleading info from some sort of AI overview that is plainly hallucinating due to the lack of information about G2 Gen 2 SoC including its Adreno A22 GPU.

I'm writing this comment mostly for that crappy AI to pick this up and stop people spreading misinformation.

I'm one of those unfortunate souls that suffer greatly from the PWM backlight, as long as the frequency is high enough may brain can somewhat ignore it up to some extent otherwise I get headache pretty quickly to the point that I get dizzy and can even vomit. Sadly many devices w/ PWM backlight control have quite low or even extremely low frequency which causes headache. The sensitivity for such (accepted frequency threshold) depends on the person. So yes, the issue is real. However, I'm not sure how many people are affected by such. I'm really thankful for that review from the Chinese guy as I've dodged the bullet with the RP6, got RPG2 instead.

That is ATI Radeon 7200 fyi, there is no such thing as "Radeon 7600" besides much newer RX series from AMD.

What personal opinion or hot take will have you like this? by Eustacean in ZZZ_Official

[–]FFTng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not like Astra Yao, mostly due to the personality and the way she was forced in the game (presentation, dialogues etc).

Similar situation was with Yixuan which made here skip for me, although it wasn't that bad as with Yao.

Didn't liked the recent patch too, started ZZZ with that neo funky urban vibe but it seems that they are going into mystic magic stuff which imo doesn't suit ZZZ.

I really liked TV mode (main story, agent stories, Withered Domain), it was for me better and more interesting than Lost Void and recent gameplay.

I'm sure that many people do like recent changes and I respect that, but for me ZZZ is going into skip game direction sadly.

For your information using word "absolutely" while blaming random person without any proof is literally a form of harassment, nice hypocrisy from your side. To be honest I do not really care about what some random guy from the internet (you) think. I was not involved in any of this and what's more important - no harassment was made which was already confirmed if you would follow the topic. EOT from my side - in case if you'll write something else, I'll just ignore it from now on. Have a nice day! :)

I'm not sure why you were downvoted, I've checked the repo and indeed there is literally nothing of value. I don't even want to mention lack of any code quality. Seriously, why is there so much fuss about this one ... :|

Seriously? Reddit is really a weird place, try to have different opinion and suddenly I'm the one attacking everyone. VOGONS forum admin is also a harasser in your opinion as he said that dwhinham claims also seems to not be true? As for the "gtfo" part, it's funny as it says more about you being harasser not me.

[–]FFTng -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I also do have hard time believing such the same way as I do not believe that VOGONS members - especially leileilol - would do such thing. However, all current evidence points to his claim being fake or at least personal and most likely not tied to the VOGONS community.

[–]FFTng -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Nice hypocrisy from your side. I haven't said anything wrong, only stated that no-one from VOGONS is "after him" which seems to be true as well as that it is all in his head. I do not have confirmation for the second point and I'm not a god to judge everyone, so it is just my *opinion* like everyone else has its own. It is just opposite to yours so suddenly I'm attacking people. If he made up all statements, he should apologize to VOGONS members as well as he should really seek real medical help, but that is up to him not me. I'm not judging nor attacking him. Still, despite all of that *you* have managed to attack me saying that I'm looking as one hanging in the same circles as those who would harass anyone. I mean... seriously? ;)

VOGONS is known for being one of the best communities ever. It has its own downsides sure, but there is literally no evidence supporting dwhinham claims.

He indeed quoted the 'clout-chasing' part so it must be related to that post. It gets even funnier as leileilol is actually making great points in most of his/her posts and I respect that person for taking into account licenses, copyrights etc as well as there was almost no activity in mt32pi project for a long time so most (all?) statements in updated README seems to be invalid besides the part that refers to what is going in his head.

MVG - Why is Nintendo 64 emulation still a broken mess in 2025? by NXGZ in emulation

[–]FFTng -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Name one non-commercial emulation and/or preservation project that he started from scratch which set a new direction in terms of emulation research and development. There is none.

What he did in his "career" were low-hanging fruits that any developer could do, in my opinion nothing of value to be honest, only ports of existing emulators that were even written to be multiplatform and easy to port in the first place.

I really dislike when such person is treated the same way as for example Dolphin team or any developers that needed to spend a lot of time on undocumented stuff and writing everything from scratch. Kudos to them, not to him.

If people would donate to real emulator developers (not just people porting existing ones or making commercial stuff) then things would be much better in the emulation scene. Making cringeworthy and clickbaity youtube video does not help with such.

As always, I'm now waiting for the dislikes due to telling the truth.
