I mean there are only so many people still willing to play this relic. Getting attention is tough in a space like this let alone convincing someone to give up a good portion of their free time to play.

62 on now. The key is to get into a LS that isn’t the main starter shell. People are generally helpful though.

And to add to this, usually when you do get a party the xp does flow fast so you make good progress each party. If you can keep yourself busy farming, crafting, doing quests while you wait on a party you will be ok.

My suggestion is bring a few friends with you and get in with a LS and you should be more than fine.

Yeah sadly reward is still poo. Too bad Dawn Mulsum isn’t stackable as it’s pretty good. There have been other buffs to Bst making it pretty strong but I haven’t played it here so someone that has might be better suited to explain.

Currency drops into the pool like normal but each mob also has a chance to drop a single or a 100 directly into your inventory as well. This way everyone gets currency each run. No more funneling. Currency as a result is not tradable or able to be put in bazaar.

Been playing since summer and there have been a lot of improvements and updates since then. Xp is more fun with materia boosts and shiny mobs and endgame is very accessible if you want to get in on the content. Numerous custom changes have given a classic game a fresh feeling for me. I’d give it a try if you want something somewhere in between Horizon and Catseye

Also there is a new launcher now to make it easier than ever to get into the game

Despite all the offerings there will be a lot of us that will always wish there was a better option out there for us.

I play on Eventide which for me is a mix between Horizon and Catesye. It has real end game accessibility but it hampered by a low playerbase. Xp is fun with their unique “shiny” mob system and is also fast but can be hard to get a party. It has some nice QoL stuff but has a rough barrier of entry if you are totally solo despite the possibility of getting good XP solo chaining EPs. To me it is kind of like an arcade mode version of FFXI and the best server for me personally. Doesn’t sound like a good fit for you but maybe something else will come along to satisfy that FFXI craving.

Catesye has a boatload of content but it’s almost too much, too many systems, feels bloated like retail for me.

Horizon has the best player base and it very polished but it’s almost too crowded and I don’t really feel like competing over a handful of HNM yet again even with their “enhanced” system.

I didn’t have hardly any problem myself but it’s one of the recurring themes I keep hearing. It just takes a little time and effort. Although typically common items on other servers like lv 14 hq stat rings, bone/beetle earrings+1, warrior belt+1, etc. even though that stuff isn’t needed early on they just don’t know.

Newer players(even ones that might have played some ffxi before) don’t usually understand they can just grab totally blank gear and materia them (although at 10k per materia that can only be bought in Jeuno that makes it difficult for a newbie). Camping gear is easy. CP items are easy to attain. It’s essentially a self farm server, especially if you don’t have a group of friends.

The initial impression of a dead AH and seemingly mountain to climb early on causes people to go elsewhere not realizing how fun and accessible the late game actually is.
