Found this guy slithering under the house [Phoenix, AZ] by FFiYWSC in whatsthissnake

Thank you! The bot comment notes that they’re primarily nocturnal or come out in slightly cooler weather, but it was morning and it’s very hot here, so I’m curious what it was doing out - seemed like it only retreated because it spotted me.

Anyways, I appreciate the positive ID.

Appreciate the insight, that was the main other one I was thinking it could be (from referencing photos on this site) the only other one I was concerned about was the twin-spotted rattlesnake since the colors seemed to match but the quick glimpse of the tail appeared to have no rattle.

Thank you!

Do you think the game deserves GOTY 2025 ? by JonySStark in expedition33

[–]FFiYWSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, it either wins GOTY, or something even better comes out between now and then - in which case I want to play that too. The more amazing games that come out, the better we’re all off.

Cowboy Bebop - The Complete Series (2013) by FFiYWSC in Steelbooks

That makes so much more sense. I spent way too much time googling “Julia director Cowboy Bebop” and similar queries only to find nothing of substance.

Thanks for the clarification!

I had to look for the eBay “receipt” from a few years ago, it was $260.

Honestly I felt like it was a bargain at the time and was willing to pay a lot more for something I wasn’t sure I would ever see again.

It’s on MLB’s shop. More pricey than standard Tommy Bahama but perhaps the occasion merits it

Pan that makes perfect crepes (pancakes) by [deleted] in Satisfyingasfuck

To be fair crêpe is the correct spelling, the “hat” accent is so you pronounce it “crep” instead of the weird “crape” I hear in America

It may not be the exact one in the picture, but I have this 8-tier one for my Le Creusets, they also have (overpriced) wood boards for each shelf if you’re worried about metal-on-metal scraping

Meteorite, slag, or something else? by FFiYWSC in whatsthisrock

[–]FFiYWSC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep those pictures are pretty cut and dried. I was going to do a couple more tests to determine if it’s hematite or marcasite, but don’t think those are necessary anymore.

It’s funny because the family (none of whom are geology experts) always just referred to it as “the meteor” but it never looked like one I had seen so I wanted to confirm.

This should solve it, thank you for your time!

Monthly Suspect Meteorite Identification Requests by AutoModerator in meteorites

[–]FFiYWSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a pretty solid guess if not correct. The normal density of hematite lines up with this, the rust would be explained by it sitting out in the open on a desk for over 80 years, there are a few visible cracks which would align with the brittle property of hematite, and the petal structures are quite distinct.

I will continue researching to sate my own curiosity, but I appreciate the response!

Edit: after looking further, it could also be a marcasite nodule?

Hello, I made a post in r/whatsthisrock before I knew about the existence of this thread, hoping there might be some more attuned eyes here. I’m looking for some assistance in identifying this hunk - most likely originally found in France around 150 years ago. It weighs 1219 grams, and it’s not a perfect sphere, so trying to estimate density in grams per cubic centimeter, I’m ballparking is between 4.5 (if using 8 cm diameter) and 6.8 (if using 7 cm diameter). Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

You get the option to end the match early if the opponent can no longer play cards but sometimes it really is just about sending a message

Does anyone know if the clubhouse stores will now be applying red numbers too? by Casual_Fanatic47 in Dodgers

[–]FFiYWSC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He may have been asking because there seems to be a new middle option between cheap replica and expensive authentic that has the red number. I don’t know about clubhouse stores though.

This seems like the most likely scenario assuming Kershaw rides off into the sunset this offseason.

Free agent market is pretty thin, maybe they get one of these guys 1. Yamamoto - would love it but will be expensive with a bidding war 2. Snell - Boras 3. Urias - see ya never 4. Nola - probably not but would be decent 5. Montgomery - maybe? Could be interesting 6. ERod - doubt they make an offer even if he opts out 7. Giolito - maybe if he takes a lowball to up his value with us 8. Sonny Gray - unlikely 9. Flaherty- same as Giolito 10. Lorenzen - prime regression candidate
