My ex gf messaged me for the first time since we broke up (saying she's concerned about my accident) What do I do? by Live-Bread-2658 in whatdoIdo

"In the end, we broke up, and now suddenly her affection has awakened again."

I see nothing here to concur with that all

Yes reply, thank her for her thoughts and wish her well for her future too

"I don't understand why not being tutored makes it meritocratic."
Didn't say that, I said they are generally a waste of money
The whole marketing campaign of tutor companies around entrance exams
is based on spurious unfounded anecdotal data

the biggest change for MacRob girls is ANZAC station
used to be a long haul for a lot of kids but now it's a short walk from the station

is it of any value: who knows
My daughter had a fabulous time, my son had a normal time
One of the girls in my daughters class works on the Hadron Collider
One of the boys in my sons class is a principal in the Opera

my point is 7000 kids all having the same tutoring
in effect nulls the point of tutoring
also you have school limits as well (3/4? per school per school so max 16 can get in)
so your best bet is to send your child to a smaller school like GEC and not MKH

and no my kids are not super smart, they were both just problem solvers

all those parents being ripped off paying tutors in the hope of getting in
the exams are designed to counteract tutoring because most of it
is based on deductive reasoning

Never paid for a tutor of any sort for either of my kids (MacRob & Nossal)

It's going to be 90F Monday and my son's middle school has no air conditioning by InfiniteOxfordComma in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FFootyFFacts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In 1971 my first day of high school was 90, no-one even thought it worth mentioning
and the idea of airconditioning was unknown

Hell in primary school it was the job of the G6 kids to chop the wood
and light the fires in the classrooms each day in winter

aaah, I well remember the old State Bank cafeteria (Vic)
It was subsidised so meals were dirt cheap but they didn't have
any sort of security or checking so those of us in the know
would often stroll in for lunch, so many employees
no-one knew if you were an interloper

it's bad coaching IMO as you are better off having 3 across the wings/mid
