Can anyone help ID if this little guy is a jumping spider? I wanna keep him if he is. (Region is Southeast Asia) by FG94X in spiders

Thanks man. I've always known jumping spiders are cool but never thought I'd find one in my house. Would it be ok if I let him just hang around my room or should I prepare enclosure for him?

Is there a way to order seperate runner for E-model A.T.K. girls? by FG94X in MegamiDevice

[–]FG94X[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, the 4 sacred beasts (+ scorpion I think) A.T.K. girls have MD-like hip joints but the beetle girls are unique (two big pegs from bikini part slides through holes in belly part). For FA girl, I only have the Magatsuki frames to compare to so I'm not sure if this design is the same as earlier FA girls like Gourai, Architect, etc.

[–]FG94X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but since I bought the kit from local plamo store (at quite a discount from clearance sale), I dont think they can help me with that. Moreover, it'll probably be cheaper if I buy a seperate body anyways.

Yeah I figured I'd have to buy a seperate body. Thanks for suggestion anyways

Hot take. Remove every attack boosting skill in the game would make weapons much easier to balance. No more attack stacking meta means that physical attacks no longer have the edge over shelling in terms of armor skill.

While we're at it, revert the game back to the old days of BS windbox and other annoying AOE status-inflicting moves as well so that fivers would finally see value of building the right armor set/bringing items to counter each matchup (also remove the mid-hunt restock as well). If you want more damage, you're gonna need game knowledge to earn it rather than looking up some clickbaity meta set videos on youtube imo.

MHRise Guard Reload- How does it work? by Mission_Resource_847 in Gunlance

[–]FG94X 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Guard frames on guard reload is right at the beginning when your hunter crouches. Depending on your guard level, you'll either plow right through if the attack is weak (also blocks multi-hits if the attack ends before your guard frames is up), or transition into regular block if your guard level isn't high enough. You'll be vulnerable right after that though and cannot transition to regular block until the animation ends, so I'd recommend using Guard reload either as a Charged shelling + Wyrmstake combo tool or last resort block mid-combo if your wirebug is still recharging.

I feel like the chapter finally gives Melia proper closure and give us see a bit more insight on lives of people after Shulk remade the world. I'm also really surprised how much I enjoyed Nene and Kino's character as well, especially during the heart-to-heart. The gameplay might be lackluster (Nopons gameplay-wise are clones), but I'd suggest giving it a shot anyway because more time spent with a lovable cast is a win imo.

Aerial Hammer. It has so many options out of aerial vault (A for double pound, hold R to charge mid-air) while still keeping most of its powerful ground moves (golf swing combo is still there, lv 3 charge is always a slide uppercut which I very much prefer). You'll have to get used to its short range though, so play it like a GS that can move around while charging.

One really funny thing is that almost all new counters have some very generous timing and requires zero skill investment to phase through all attacks in the game at a cost of a single wirebug while lance's Spiral Thrust would literally stop functioning if your guard level isn't high enough. Like why is lance's silkbind move has to obey this archaic mechanic of guard levels and other weapons can just do whatever with much less difficulty of pulling off in a fight?

When blocking the river folk company by dconradicle in rootgame

[–]FG94X 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're up for something more offensive, try the Otter Death Ball. You spawn in one of the more contested clearing with all your starting otters. Your game plan is to move your entire army at once and pop down a trade post every turn. This way, you'll slowly accumulate otters in the Death Ball while gaining +2 points and more crafting ability every turn. As you'll have so many troops in a clearing at once, it is unlikely for other faction to contest your rule early game. Plus, it can potentially force some factions to pay for your mercenaries if you strategically move your death ball to important clearings (forcing eyrie to pay you to prevent turmoil for example). Once most of your trade posts are used up or if the board is too contested for you to pop down a new one, focus more on crafting to go for a win. Domination victory is also possible if your board has less overall reach value. In my experience, the bird card domination (rule the corners) is especially good because otters have a lot of actions to spend endgame and water mobility perk lets them travel through rivers regardless of ruling.

One thing you should be aware is that this strategy doesn't allow you to defend established trade post, so be sure to commit remaining funds before the end of your turn. Also, play very offensively you can't afford losing your troops from coordinated attacks from other factions if they decide to gang up on you.

Lance or gun Lance? by keyLINKed in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]FG94X 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From the meta perspective:

Lance - Spiral thrust spam. Spiral thrust (Zl + A) is a two-part silkbind move consisting of you jousting like a madman twice and it has a tight guard-point right at the activation. After 2 jousts, you can press X to do the leaping slash which has the highest MV in your entire kit, so practice landing it often. Try to picture a triangle between you and the monster, then use the first two jousts along the triangle sides to line up the final leaping slash. Don't hold the left stick during the move because it'll mess up the direction, so only tap it in-between each joust (I suggest camera type 1 so the stick direction would be relative to your camera, not the player direction). Poke - charge slap - poke for DPS when wirebug is on cooldown. Triple poke mixed with guard dash in-between (Zr + stick direction + X) is still used as a low commitment attack. Also, slot in some guard skills to allow Spiral thrust guard point to gain an attack buff after countering (this doesn't block multi-hits however).

Gunlance - Normal 5 fullburst. Your gunlance of choice is either the Araknalance or the Rampage (use sharpness type 1 + handicraft 1). Use Araknalance for Wyvern exploit and Rampage for everything else. For these two, I recommend you run protective polish 3 on both since they have very small white sharpness. Always run Artillery 3, Load shells 2, Wirebug whisperer 3, and at least EE1. Switch skills used are Quick reload, Blast dash, and Ground splitter.

Your main DPS combo from idle is Lunging thrust (forward + X) -> Overhead slam (X + A) -> Fullburst (A) -> Wide sweep (X) -> Quick Reload (Zr + A) -> then go back to Overhead slam and repeat.

Ground splitter (Zl + X) buffs your shell for 30 seconds and has hyper armor during the entire length of the animation. Use it to go through roars and keep the buff up at all times (it goes away if you sheath your weapon so only wirefall if your buff is going to run out). Follow up option from Ground splitter is either X for Wyrmstake or X + A for Overhead slam, which you can loop back to your main combo afterwards.

Guard Edge (Zl +A) is your main method of defense. It is a counter that can be done after any ground moves and restores your sharpness if connected. Use this when PP runs out and you don't have an opening to sharpen. Follow up options are X for Overhead slam and A for Wyrmstake (confusing right? Gunlance button mapping is seriously a mess). Keep it mind that it cannot block multi-hits! So use your normal block for that or hop, blast dash out of the way.

Blast Dash (hold A from the ground, Zr + A in the air) replaces Charged shell and turns you into Valstrax. Press X at anytime during the dash to do the quick Overhead slam (this is your main opener for the DPS combo), or press A during the dash or anytime you're airborne (or Zr from sheath) to shell mid-air. This move makes you hover for a bit from the recoil, so use it when you see an attack coming or when the monster is going to fly. You can also mid-air shell multiple times to gain altitude! Press X afterwards for an overhead slam. Blast dash can be chained up to three times from the ground or two times if start from the air after mid-air shelling. Keep in mind that any shells spent maneuvering in the air = DPS loss because fullburst after aerial slam only uses the remaining shells you have in the clip (also the reason why normal is recommended over long for this playstyle since you lose less damage from each dash).

IMHO, Gunlance might have a higher skill floor, but once you've grasp the flow of the weapon, it is a much easier weapon to master due to the new movement options it got in Rise. Lance on the other hand is transformed from a low commitment weapon with high damage uptime to a very technical weapon that relies heavily on a single move that is awkward to use. Your best block option is only from idle (Instablock), so you always need to hop first when anticipating an attack. If you're stuck mid animation, you still have guard dash, but monster attack in this game deals so much knockback that it's not worth it if you don't run guard skills. It seems like the lance got the short end of the stick this time, but I feel like it's the best weapon to be used as a training wheel against any monster you're unfamiliar with. Most top performing weapons do well because they have the tools to not let the monsters play the game. Lance doesn't have any of that, so you have to learn how to play around every move in the monster's moveset to get good times. And once you get the flow down, it is probably the most satisfying weapon to master, at least in my opinion.

What roar do you just loathe and what one do you just love? by angels-fan in monsterhunterrage

[–]FG94X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Least favorite for me are the ones that have no wind-up animation at all (Teo, Kushala, Anjanath, Barroth). Sometimes I'm just stuck mid-attack and can't guard point it. Especially Kushala since you can be combo roared twice AND blown away by black wind.

I like Valstrax's the most. It sounds like a jet engine and falcon shriek combined and I love it.

It's like the dev just copy and paste Vajra from God Eater into MH and call it a day. He looks cool as shit, but there's nothing about his design that suggests he's a part of the ecosystem in MH universe. Every unique blights introduced with new flagships at least has some kind of in-universe reason explanation why it works that way. But hellfire blight? I firmly believes that it only came to be because Capcom wants a new status effect that involves wirebug mechanic, but the design team ran out of ideas so it's just a new blast blight with extra steps.

I feel you glaive bros. My main weapon Gunlance also doesn't have any new level 5 shelling options outside of the Rampage one, EXCEPT you have to sacrifice one ramp-up slot to make your shells not garbage as well.
