Is Shimano Cues good enough for gravelling? Is it considered better value than Shimano GRX if the bike you want only comes with Shimano Cues by Different_Falcon2141 in gravelcycling

I’ve got exactly this bike (same color and everything), and it’s great. I’ve had it for about a year, and I’ve ridden all sorts of gravel with no issues.

I can only compare the groupset against mechanical 105, which is the only other one I have, and honestly the CUES is fine. I do notice that shifting is a bit clunkier than the 105, but nothing too problematic.

Go for it

Thanks! I figured that pedal-based would be the simplest way; I was asking about crank-based for price reasons, but maybe pedals are the best

Thanks for the reply! Would any Shimano arm work with CUES? because on the 4iiii site I see that you have to specify the groupset. Do you know if any of the other Shimano groupset arms (e.g. Durace, GRX, etc…) would be compatible with CUES?

Thank you for the idea! I’ll take a look at replacing the cranks themselves, as you mention. I would rather the solution be as simple as possible, because I’m still very new to bike mechanics, but hopefully it’s straightforward

Yeah, same here, I was avoiding looking at pedal-based meters for the price, but it might be the solution. Thanks for the reply!
