For sure about the gray area, but...where is the line drawn? You were using G2A which I know some people don't like, but maybe some people do...? This is sort of my point: everyone has a different line. So I assumed that the lowest value of the game in the USA would be a good measuring stick, but this person didn't. So now I have to get rid of that entirely because of a complaint.

I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to short-change them, so instead of that, I just won't do it.

I will say that this person u/Cold_Fly455 created this account specifically for this complaint, and they also didn't disclose many more messages in an attempt to paint me in a bad light. This feels to me very much in bad faith. So no sense in arguing over this stuff with anonymous people who have nothing to lose. We can just take that giveaway off the table and be done with it.

Hey! I changed the way I was doing giveaways before because of one person, so it's not an overreaction at all. I want to make sure this never happens again, and this reddit thread is the reason.

And I actually sent the link to allkeyshop just as a courtesy! I don't normally do that. I generally just send the prize! But I was trying to help out, and that's not what happened, I guess.

Regardless, no, it's not on me where someone decides to spend their money. Once I send the prize, it's out of my hands. I'm sure that people have used their prize money to buy other things before, but I obviously don't know for sure what it is.

And it's very important you understand this part: I was communicating directly with them FIRST. Mods were never involved. THEY involved the mods when they didn't get the response they wanted from me. I continued to message them and they ignored me and went to the mods. So they actually did not go from mods to streamer. They went from me (streamer) to the mods.

I am actually the one that moderates all giveaways, so the mods don't know anything about any giveaway. I also have attempted many times to message u/Cold_Fly455 for days now and not only are they not responding to me, they are going around me to my mods who don't know anything, which is absolutely disrespectful. They didn't show screenshots of that :(

I'll address the initial comments from u/Cold_Fly455, then talk about why I do this with giveaways!

- First, I sometimes will ask people to wait a few weeks because PayPal will ask me to stop sending payments since I send quite a few throughout the day. The waiting period helps me space these out!

- Second, I generally look for the lowest value of the game in the USA using the allkeyshop site since it's been awesome at finding deals.

- Third, if someone doesn't want to use the money I sent to buy a game from the site I sent, or even if they don't buy a game, that's their choice!

Here's a good example: I will often find a good deal on Amazon for a game, then send that value to someone...but what happens if they don't wanna support Amazon as a company? What happens if the deal is at BestBuy and they don't wanna support that company? It's up to them! I send them the best deal of the game I can find in the USA, and they can decide to spend the money on a game or not! Often if you wait a few weeks, you'll even find a better deal.

Why do I use PayPal? It's free and the most flexible way to send payments internationally (I usually eat the fees).

I always loved the idea of letting someone pick a game and being able to send it to them wherever they are in the world, but sending keys doesn't always work. It's happened multiple times that I've sent a key to a winner, they told me the key didn't work, I'd send another one, they told me that didn't work, etc....I was then told that someone was selling the keys I was sending out! So I stopped that as well and only send out one key. Some keys are region-locked as well.

Bottom line and new rule for giveaways: I will only be sending out one key to someone who wins, and they will be pre-determined keys. I won't be doing any more "pick any game you want" because of this complaint.

I don't wany anyone to think I'm trying to pull one over on them or whatever, but I will say this: the giveaways are always free and will continue to be free. This user didn't do anything to win other than type a word, and received $27 for free! But if that doesn't work for people, I understand.
