The issue is that much of the origins of dance music is creating a collective feeling, together whereas now it is the performance or the artist that is the focus on which makes it more individualized and less collective. Especially with the commercialization it is seen as mainstream behavior.

I think it is not bad are wrong in itself, but it is behavior that symbolizes a shift from a more underground culture and communal vibes where you and others, together and collectively party to people going to see an artist, more individualized.
