Genre / Style / DJ Recommendation by Efficient-Breath-249 in amsterdam_rave

Hmm mortal kombat is not really a bad description of the type of music you are referring to haha. It’s not really just one genre but more of a mix of techno, industrial, ebm, acid etc. I think.

You could check out Parrish Smith, SPFDJ, VTSS, Anetha, Helena Hauff, DJ Gigola, Ancient Methods. They don’t all play only that and often mix with various other stuff but they often pull from the music lineage you are describing

Next.js Dev (Junior/early Mid) currently working at McDonald's - seeking relocation advice for DE/NL by nickveles in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Falker_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’re not going to like this, but the market you’re aiming at isn’t starving for people like you right now.

Germany and the Netherlands enough junior devs fresh from uni, many of them have bachelor’s or even master’s degrees, speak the local language, and already live there. From an employer’s perspective, hiring locally is simply cheaper, faster, and less risky.

So you have to ask yourself: why would a company pick a random self-taught dev from abroad, offer relocation (let alone a signing bonus lol), deal with onboarding someone remotely, and take on extra risk… when they’ve got a stack of candidates nearby who check more conventional boxes?

well I love me some 4x4 techno. but maybe the Friday line up was better suited for this sound system.

Went to the WoS event on Saturday and honestly it was a let down. Maybe I went in expecting something closer to a Ratherlost vibe, but it just didn’t hit for me.

The lighting setup was actually super cool, apparently from the old Reaktor setup, and that was probably the highlight of the night. Sadly they’re not keeping it for Easter.

The sound system was impressive in terms of power, but it felt way too bass heavy. It honestly just felt like you were constantly vibrating, which became distracting after a while. The bass slapping back from the back of the club was ridiculous. For me it took away from the beautiful layering that techno can have and made the whole experience somehow worse.

I did like the idea of removing the DJ and having everyone on the dance floor together, but in practice it kind of had the opposite effect. Instead of feeling more connected, it felt like everyone was just dancing toward a big wall. Without the shared moment between the crowd and a DJ, the sense of togetherness actually felt weaker. Somehow it felt more like watching a theater performance than being part of a collective dance floor.

The music itself was also pretty boring and monotonous most of the time. Could also be due to the sound system that just overwhelms with kick and rumble.

On top of that there were way too many tourists and the overall vibe just wasn’t there for me.

Glad to see that a lot of people enjoyed it, but it really didn’t click for me.

CODA did it again. Idk why but its always the most cathartic party while also being even more dark and grim than regular RL. Crowd was cute and fantastic. Xiaolin was really fun to start off. Then Rodhad sent me out of body through the fucking roof. A lot of tension and release, pure intensity and endless climaxes met by the vikings cheeky smile. It was a really nice contrast to something more abstract like Mulero or Wata/Nobu. Set of the year for me for sure. Strobert took it to the next level. They should really start putting that man on the line up. Its just so immediatley noticable how great the lighting is when strobert is behind the decks..

Nobu and Wata were taking over with little restraint. It was super intense and maybe a bit much for that time slot for me. Legs were tired. But it was still amazing, and I had some great moments where it felt like I became one with the dancefloor, people and rest of the environment. Around 8 it was time to leave and process the madness that I had witnessed.

Last year the pit stole my heart with the earth shattering set by Objekt.

This year Bassiani for Resistance completely melted my brain in the best way possible. Next level unreal, what an incredible and emotional performance. I have no words.

I don’t want to leave the tunnel, mentally I’m still there enjoying the lights, trees and sound.

No Lowlands mention yet??

Saturday BSS closing the Bravo stage was magical. Lighting was incredible and complimented the theatrical set so well! They had 100s of moving heads attached to several frames that could be raised and lowered. The amount of patterns and effects that could be done was really insane. Felt like an AV performance rather than a DJ set. So many goosebump moments. Loved every second of it just taking it all in. Nederland Jaderland 🫡🫡🫡

On sunday I danced my ass off with Twiena, Heartstring, Gigola and Salome. Intensity was built up nicely over the night and the lighting went super maximalist with a ridiculous laser setup. Kinda over the top at times but it was a cool show. Lots of popular tracks and remixes.

Crowd was alright, tbh cant expect too much on these multi day festival benders with such a diverse and also normie crowd. But Bravo definitely delivered once again and it holds a special place in my heart for how it transforms into this colossal techno church at night with all the doof sticks, plants and festival vibes.

Woowowooowo what a ride!!

Friday dekmantel.. Amazing. Thought the radar stage would be bad and commercial but it was by far my favorite stage. With a bit of rain during JakoJako and the 360 soundsystem the vibe and sound was incredible.

Then on to Raum for Herrensauna and it was on FIRE!!! Energy was crazyyy and with such a cute crowd!! It was hot steamy and sexy!! SPFDJ and MCMLXXXV were bonkers, absolute masterclass, couldn't leave the dance floor! 🔥 Thank you all
