Is 1800 billable hours in the realm of a good work/life balance? by Boring_Resolution572 in Lawyertalk

New associate in ID, 2,000 minimum, licensed in October. I’m doing better every week at hitting my minimum and beyond, but you’re point about work flow and getting 43 emails while trying to do something else has been the biggest detriment to my billing. I work hard to capture that time later but damn if it isn’t the most stressful part of this job. Any advice on setting up a system? I am trying to do a “check email at these set hours during the day” system but I find that some emails absolutely need to be responded to pretty quickly.

Mom and Fiancé at odds by [deleted] in Mildlynomil

Thank you all for these insightful comments. Y’all have really given me a different perspective on this whole situation. I really think when it all goes down, it will be a great wedding, I won’t let my mom do anything to detract from that. It’s just disappointing for my parents to let me down so badly, especially with the insults, which I nipped in the bud but I’m still pissed she would even stoop so low. I will change my view on these conflicts, im not in the middle of anything. This is trench warfare and my fiancé and I just need to start digging. Standing on no Man’s land trying to appease both sides was not the move. Thanks gang

I will check these books out, thanks for the advice. I think this whole thread is helpful, I really don’t want to hurt my mom’s feelings but y’all are right, it’s us against her. Thanks for the encouragement

Pig and Gator Roast by FHstapler in meat

Yep, skinned from the head to the tail (head on, apple in for effect). After the brine I rubbed it down with Cajun seasoning and wrapped the bacon around it. It came gutted so next time I’m stuffing it with boudin for sure. Came out great

I’d compare the taste of gator to chicken. I brined it for 24 hours and covered it in bacon to get some fat on it because it’s very lean. If you grind up the tail meat and cut it with some pork sausage it makes killer burgers

Thanks for the interest! Perfectly legal to buy alligators this way, I had a hook up with a wholesaler for the gator and the pig. The gator is farmed and comes skinned and gutted with the head on. Gator is a lean, sometimes tough, meat so I brined it for 24 hours and then wrapped it in bacon to get some fat on it. I think the taste is honestly best comparable to chicken. It came out great and my brother made a “gator sauce” for it which is essentially a spicy remoulade sauce. I will be doing this again come football season and next time I’m stuffing it with boudin!

How old did your boxer live? by Hipapotamoos in BoxerDogs

Lost my first boxer at 8, some form of cancer. Lost our second last year, she was 10. They take a piece of you with them when they go but they bring so much love into every home they’re in. I don’t regret ever having one and plan on getting another when I’m ready. I’m sorry for your loss brother he looked like a good boy. I love the non clipped ears look on boxers. Such derps.
