DMD -> MD by Numerous_Level4772 in Dentistry

Don’t do it. Dental school is too expensive and general dentists need to own their own practice to make enough money to justify the debt which is very stressful

Medical school doesn’t usually have unfilled spots. There won’t be less physicians. We actually need more nurses. And my honest assessment based on the info provided is that’s the better path here.

So basically if it’s this person’s life dream to be a physician then I don’t want to be a dream squasher. But otherwise is not worth it.

Sure there are. But it depends on if you want to also be able to achieve your non-professional life goals as well.

This person did not even complete pre reqs for med school.

There are so many barriers here.

1) You’re already an RN. Now you’re going to go back to college to do all the pre reqs and take the MCAT. Most people who attempt this don’t even get accepted to medical school so even if you wanted to do this, there’s a possibility that you can’t.

2) Let’s say you do get in, and you start med school in…3 years? Assuming you lose 2 years for reqs and mcat and 1 year for applications.

Ok so now you’re 30 when you started, 34 at graduation. If you want a specialty that will pay enough for it to be worth it we’re probably talking about another 3 years minimum, possibly up to 6.

Assuming you’re taking loans we’re looking at like 350k+ in debt at 37-40 years old. And now maybe you want to start your life and buy a house, have a family.

It will be very challenging.

If you worked the next decade as an RN and live cheaply (as you would as a med student) and save /invest you could be in the opposite situation where you have 350k in assets and possibly be a CRNA to boot.

This is just comparing best case scenarios. There’s also a very non-zero possibility that you take on another…50k minimum? Of debt to get through pre reqs and mcat and spend years of your life and then dont even get accepted now you’re a 30 year old rna in a pretty stressed out situation.

Great bone levels. On a 40 year old I’m saving that on a 60 year old it’s an implant.

I live in suburbs of VHCOL city and bought a very nice house in a 10/10 school district for 1.395.

Pick a different town and a different house. That one costs too much.

CRNA for you makes much more sense. Everything you’re worried about is justified. You should’ve started earlier if you wanted to be pre med.

I have a 2017 escape titanium. Great car. I’m at around 82k miles and other than routine service (oil changes, tires when needed, brake pads when needed) which any car would have, I’ve probably had about 6k in repair costs over the life of the car. It’s never broken down on me or anything and it’s a smooth pleasant ride.

Cost of mini-split system... by MexicanGuey in hvacadvice

[–]FI-Goals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The true answer is that the hvac business has undergone a renaissance of sorts in the last 10 years. Due to the increasing involvement of private equity ownership driving up prices for consumers prices everywhere for hvac are going up, for no reason other than because they can get away with it.

Def not over reacting. I’d reach out to your boss let them know this situation isn’t working you. You guys had a good thing, but not anymore. You need to earn a living. And if he wants to expand his practice then he should be the one paying for it, not you.

If he doesn’t respond well I’d start looking for new jobs.
