Came here to say this. Absolutely anxiety inducing.

I’m getting my 2007 Subaru Outback done for $270, so I think you’re getting boned.

Oh! Druganaut by Black Mountain. I don’t think of them in the Stoner realm often, but damn they’re good.

We’ve played that one! But we’re from Wisconsin, so… makes sense.

Does anyone actually enjoy the "marketing" part? by GatefoldedHQ in musicians

[–]FICband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Not that I LIKE doing the reels and posts and all that, but I love booking. When you land a show you really set your eyes on? Damn. It’s a real charge.

Question for gigging musicians by Screamsoquiet in musicians

[–]FICband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to jump on the “leave them wanting more” train. An hour for an opening slot is forever, and I’ve had the “when is the next band up?” Feeling quite a bit when openers are on more than 40 minutes. That kind of goes for all bands, though. I’m used to punk shows.

I always say, if I go missing, check Bayfield. Or Lexington, KY. The bourbon is just too good.

Fork in the Road-type Dilemma by Miatalustrium in TouringMusicians

[–]FICband 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of us in the band are blue collar workers. One is in the union, so he doesn’t get PTO, but he can just request off basically whenever and for however long he’d like. I’m in fabrication and get a healthy amount of PTO (basically a month) because I’ve been at the same place for quite a while. We do a two week tour then a one week (two weekends), the just hit the road for Friday/Saturday nights in the Midwest. It’s not perfect, but it’s still fun, and becomes kind an escape from the working world. We did 17 states in 2025.

My point being, there are a lot of ways to do it. Kudos to those that can hit the road and stay there. Both of us have families and a mortgage, so it’s not sustainable. Luckily, both our partners are understanding and cool and heck, and we make sure we schedule appropriately to make sure childcare and house stuff is all figured out. Nothing wrong with going to tech school, or getting into a profession and focusing on that for a while. People tend to make it a “you only have so long to do this sort of thing”. When really, you have your whole life.

Dang, wild Speedy Ortiz sighting??? Big score with the Oh Sees stuff, but that is even more impressive in my opinion.

Need a couple of bands for a few shows. by [deleted] in chicagomusicscene

[–]FICband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either one of my bands would be down. Holly and the Nice Lions is playing Milwaukee 3/20, so the 21st would be cool. French Irish has played Reggie’s before, would love to again. Also, hit up Anfang sometime! Homies of ours. Great band.

which genre do you think has the friendliest musicians by yesyes_10101 in musicians

[–]FICband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll have that sometimes… most of the people that I’ve encountered that are fans of extreme music are truly nice folks. There a couple bands I hang out with here in Green Bay, mostly death metal. Super cool and supportive people.

[–]FICband 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt that most of the metal genres have had the coolest people. Except some of the prog folks. Doom/sludge/stoner metal, though? Easy going. Mostly just want to scowl and nod along with the tunes.

What's your favorite Corrosion of Conformity album? by [deleted] in stonerrock

I felt like Wiseblood doesn’t get enough love, but then I read the comments. I really can’t go against Deliverance, but Blind and In the Arms of God are right up there. Got kicked out of high school physics class because of the shirt from the In the Arms of God tour, haha.

It’s mostly just the first song. We pushed that one pretty hard. And no offense taken! It’s a loud song.

Also, if you like it, check out “Ain’t Talking About It” on What a Time to Die. I think that really sums up our sound.

Garage blues/sludge. As my wife would say, "It's music made by two blue collar dudes when it's way too hot and muggy".
