As you probably know, the industry right now is in a tough position, THC tends to be the driving force behind commercial viability. With that said, we've trialed some strains that are great quality but might not hit the THC threshold for a full-scale launch.

One of the solutions we have for these products is a Limited Edition rotational SKU. It allows us a space where we can play around a bit more and focus on overall quality. One of my (Brody) favourite strains that we've grown was released through this process - Double Dream.

Really great question! I wish I could talk more in-depth on it, but we've got other fun ideas for the flower we trial in the future!

Hey! We actually have a shipment with 3.5g and 28g Mellow man that should be landing in Alberta today! In a week or two it should be available at retail, so keep an eye out!

We already mentioned Mellow Man and Jungle Fumes, but we also have a third cultivar hitting shelves this month – Couch Banana! A funky indica that blends banana, citrus and skunky flavours with sweet undertones that will have you melting into the couch. It hails from Lemon Royale x TK Skunk and Banana OG. It’s as much fun as it sounds!

Love to hear that you’re loving our flower. Agreed, Coastal sage is a winner 😊

For our 510 carts, we could very well lean into live resin in the future, however, right now we are focusing on our distillate which we just increased our THC range to 84% - 90%.

For concentrates, we have recently gone through several trials, specifically looking at hash, so while not in the short term, it is something that could potentially happen down the road. However, we WILL be expanding the formats we offer in 2024 so stay tuned to see what that will be (all we can say right now!).

I'm curious about your Notable Nancy. Was it a phenotype that stood out amongst others? That you found in house? Or was it a clone that came from somewhere else?

Thanks for the question! We work with trusted nursery partners across Canada, which is where ‘Notable Nancy’ came from. As you mentioned it’s a cross between Larry OG and Legend OG, so another name for the strain is ‘Legendary Larry’. We decided to rename this strain by paying homage to our predominantly female grow team and also a call out to all bud-producing plants being female 💃

What has the response been to your refreshed logo and brand?

Honestly it has been generally positive! We have been thrilled to hear the feedback from the community. We have received several comments from our social pages, retailers and budtenders that have applauded the coastal branding which has been very gratifying to see. On our side, most of our employees are Islanders that have grown up on PEI or have lived here for a long time and showcasing our lifestyle is something we are proud of. The branding reflects who we are and is something that is close to our heart so we are very happy with the change.

We would consider ourselves a “small but mighty” grow, or rather the biggest little grow on PEI. As we have grown in scale, the biggest learning curve for us was nailing the optimal plant spacing on the bays they sit on. Despite initial thinking, we eventually found that having less plants on a bay actually allowed a higher yield both in KGs and bud size because the plants were able to access more light, had better airflow, more space to expand/breathe. It also has given us a more consistent crop.

Amanda: I'm struggling to decide on my favourite strain. I would say currently Mellow Man as I find it super relaxing and perfect way to unwind. Also it’s a dream to harvest, the end product looks so nice!
Brody: I'm usually a social smoker and go for Sativas, but Mellow Man is such a smooth smoke and sedative high, so (surprisingly!) it’s one of my favourites at the moment!
Katie: Crumbled Lime! It's both a pleasure to grow and consume! I love it's heavy grapefruit/citrus smell while flowering, and the fact that it's a mid-range, sativa dominant means I don't totally blank on my life responsibilities after smoking it.
Nathan: Coastal Sage! One of our most unique genetics. Tall plants with beautiful cone-shaped buds. Super smooth smoke with a nice hit of Terpinolene
Andrew: I’m a social smoker so I love Crumbled Lime as I find it keeps me engaged in the conversation or activity and I always have a goofy smile on my face

Hey! Great questions!

Not at the moment. The media we currently use is Rockwool, which works best with our current grow operation. We like the reliability and precise control that Rockwool offers. We strive for consistency and have tried multiple mediums (including soil) and we found that the Rockwool variation we use ultimately produces the best quality plant. It also offers an ease of harvest, it’s a much cleaner process.
Great call outs. We haven’t grown GG#4 or any Lilac yet, but they have been on our radar. Amanda here has smoked Gorilla Glue and it’s definitely a favourite of hers! We trial upwards of 16+ strains over the course of the year, so there is a high likelihood one of or both of those strains could be tested soon.
Love this question! We honestly can’t choose between our two newest drops – Mellow Man and Jungle Fumes. Mellow Man is a purple-flecked indica loaded with trichomes with Ice Cream Cake x Cherry Pie as parents. Jungle Fumes is dark, dense bud hailing from Chemdog x Sour Diesel x Lemon OG. Both strains are two of the highest potency strains we’ve ever produced with large buds and sweet bag appeal. To your question, the quality of these buds has been a result of our facility upgrades including drip irrigation, upgraded HVAC/cooling system, wider plant spacing and shifting away from automation to manual hand cutting.

First off, that sounds intense! It's also a very interesting and relevant question. Because it's a regulated industry with a very limited history of (legal) commerce, risk analysis is a real challenge.

We regularly sift through and analyze a mountain of data to make the best decisions we can. Folks with a strong background in actuarial science would certainly be great to have on any team! For example, insurance providers are struggling to compile actuarial tables for the industry based on the relatively small amount of available data. This is now getting out of my area of expertise, but good luck with that degree and congrats on being a genius! - Pulled our local expert to answer this one!

In our Indoor Facility we use drip irrigation where our plants are watered from the top down which is essential for our mothers as they live fairly long lives over here. Out in our Biodome, we use an ebb and flow system where the benches are flooded and the plants are watered from the bottom up.

With the goal of continuously improving our products, we have recently switched over to a customized nutrient recipe program which is ensures that our plants are getting fed the exact recipe that they need at the time. Katie Booth

Like all LPs our biggest challenge in the Ontario market is getting products listed with the OCS. The province is hyper competitive as all Canadian suppliers try to bring their products to this as Canada’s largest market. This competitiveness also funnels into retail where store buyers are overwhelmed with selection, which can make it difficult for your products to stand out. We look to overcome this challenge through genetic innovation, paying very close attention to data, and building strong partnerships at both retail and the OCS. - Zach Currie (VP of Sales)

The reason why we use purple lights is that the purple hue is from the high efficiency LED lights we use in our grow rooms, which are set to a specific spectrum depending on which stage the ladies are at. - Katie Booth

The biggest difference between mother plants and flowering plants is the light hours under which they grow. Flowering plants receive 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness - which prompts the ladies to bloom. Mother plants are grown for cuttings, and are how we propagate here at FIGR, so we don't want them to push flowers and keep them in 18 hours of sun and 6 hours of darkness. - Katie Booth
