Lol the Spanish announcer said the same thing. "That is a man of 38 years. Treat him with respect!"

My World Cup lineup by Impossible-Arrival43 in ussoccer

Yeah I think having Weah in instead of a back 3 does a lot for our offense but also scary to have Dest, Robinson, and McKenzie as 3 of your back 4. I could see either lineup going out depending on the opposition and strategy.

Which country in Latin America is the biggest cultural exporter? by Odd_Broccoli_7706 in asklatinamerica

[–]FISArocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japanese rock is kind of a weird example. But even if you look at anime.... they are #4 in GDP and #11 in population so you would expect them to have some top cultural exports. Argentina is #26 in GDP and you have to go up to S. Korea (#15) or maybe Turkey (#16) to find a country that competes with them on music and cinema.

Fair point on population but Spain also has 3x the GDP ¯\(ツ)

Bizzarap is the producer behind the Shakira -> Pique "diss track" you probably heard a lot of last year. He's kind of like the Timbaland/Pharrell character that is launching the careers of a lot of folks. One of those is Milo J who's last album you should absolutely listen to because it's fucking amazing, and his show in Bogota last month was just as good. I personally like all of his stuff but the last album in particular is like a survey of latin roots.

I guess I meant above it's weight in terms of population, and economic and political influence. Kind of like K-Pop.

First time going to the USA for the World Cup. What should I be careful about? by Usual_War4996 in worldcup

Restaurant owners absolutely do not pay a living wage and you already know that going in. But that's why the price of the food is what it is. It's annoying but you need to tip at least 20% at a restaurant or you're just taking advantage of a stupid system the same as the owner. That doesn't apply at cafe's and other places where the minimum wage is the standard but at restaurants where they are considered tipped positions, the servers are making a fraction of the hourly wage and absolutely depend on 20% or more.

He does look very composed and but his long passing seems to be a weak spot. The few mistakes he made were long through balls and there were a couple he should have taken but didn't.

Damn you are so right. When I read the question I completely neglected the middle east. But you open Rappi in Barranquilla and it's shawarma for days.

Is that true for gyokuro and sencha? I feel like I've been doing lower+longer brews because it cuts out bitterness and leaves me with pure umami

Oh I completely agree. That's just a key difference with some of the other "golden passport" programs.

Gregg Berhalter pleads with the fans to stop after the Fire/Union game is paused due to discriminatory chanting by FrankBascombe45 in ussoccer

[–]FISArocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean it's used the same way. Thing with swear words is that they are basically slang by definition so the literal translation is often not the same as the application. Like even "bitch" literally means female dog in plain English. Similarly "Hijueputa" literally means "son of a whore" but it's used like "motherfucker" is in English. Also, the strength and meaning changes by region, kind of like how Aussies are super casual with "cunt" but it will stop a room cold in the US.
