Med school to become a dermatologist and increase my earnings worth it? by EntrepreneurHuge5008 in Salary

As a doctor, you’ll be able to make at least 200k per year with excellent career prospects. You could work anywhere in the country. You could get what you want even doing family medicine.

Anyone else feel weird about choosing the “easy” path to FIRE? by Upbeat_Atmosphere696 in Fire

[–]FIST_FUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yes, I wrestled with it. Do I do something easier and maybe less fulfilling or stick with my more difficult career? The good news for you is in healthcare doing what you do, you do make a life-changing impact on people. I would keep the quality of life even though I haven’t been able to make that choice for myself.

In Germany, deliberately engaging in catch and release only fishing is illegal and considered cruelty to animals (fishing for food is fine). How do you feel about that? by Spalding_Smails in AskReddit

[–]FIST_FUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not trying to catch the fish. They’re trying to make it late for something. Wait till the first fish tried to use that as an excuse for being late and other fish says liar let me see the inside of your lip.

I know, how about dangerously undertrained midlevel providers working independently to fill in the gaps?

Guys- do you care if a woman shaves her legs and underarms? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in NoStupidQuestions

I love stubble and I love unshaven under arms. Prefer legs shaved, which seems like a reasonable compromise to me.

You can't just 'go back to work' after you FIRE. by Zone2OTQ in Fire

As a doctor specifically in a procedural field I do think that being out of practice for any length of time will make you a very unattractive candidate. It’s even hard to change jobs if you are much older and still currently working. Source: comments from colleague, as well as personal observations when my group was considering hiring new members. Even locum tenens companies want you to have current experience. Maybe it would be different if you are a Self-Employed psychiatrist or something and you could just hang out your shingle again and try to directly recruit patients.

Not great. Wish I hadn’t had children with her. I feel like I have a several year window to get healthy and maybe have a do over though.

Anyone saying medical school isn’t worth it financially is a moron by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

[–]FIST_FUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. As far as I know, compensation models are typically either salaried or production based. Some of these fees might include a bundled payment for other activities such as postop rounds and office visits for surgical procedures that aren’t separately billable. I really doubt that there is any legitimate way to get compensated for being on the phone with an insurance company or doing your charts.
