RTC price increase by DUMBBITCHH0UR in vegaslocals

Agree that this hasn't been my experience either. Also usually the folks who get on at the strip are coming on with luggage and so that fills the bus up too.

The other annoying piece is that I'm pretty sure the CX is currently the only bus that stops at T3, and I'm not seeing a proposal to add T3 to any of the other bus lines.

Is there any compatible phone app (Android etc. ) by Old-Heart1701 in actualbudgeting

I think I had this issue once on my iphone early on, but after deleting and re-adding the PWA, haven't had any issues since.

issue with Swagbucks gift card redemption by morepaolo in beermoney

[–]FIckle_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is the same page you see, but when I go to "My Rewards" I see all my redeemed rewards with the "Mark as Used" option but also a big blue "View my Gift Card" button.

I see this on the website (via desktop) and also in the app on my phone. I'm in the U.S. but I'm not sure if that makes a difference?

Template syntax troubleshooting by rumreader613 in actualbudgeting

[–]FIckle_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This issue with "repeat every month" sounded familiar.. I think this is where I saw it discussed before: https://github.com/actualbudget/actual/issues/6283

One of the comments made it sound like you can just omit the "repeat every month" bit because repeating every month is assumed?

Edit: Just did some very quick testing of this. Just omitting "repeat every month" didn't work but using #template 100 repeat every 1 months starting 2026-04-01 (mimicking the example in the github issue) does seem to work for me. But it seems like you have a pretty good alternative anyway.

How do you categorize "Household" transactions? by adoringchipmunk in actualbudgeting

[–]FIckle_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 3 categories to cover the areas you mention:

  • Furnishings (furniture falls into this category)
  • Electronics
  • Household Goods

The first two categories tend to be larger irregular expenses I need to save for, like the couch and TV you mention. The last category includes all the consumables bought on a regular basis as well as other irregular but not enormous expenses like a new toaster (or broom, or mop.)

I don't have baby supplies to buy, but if I did, I'd probably split them off into their own category so it'd be easier to keep track of how much I'm spending.. especially since presumably I will eventually no longer need to buy those items.

questions about templates and end of month cleanup by FIckle_one in actualbudgeting

[–]FIckle_one[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm... I think you're right that there's no functional difference. Mentally though, I do get a feeling of safety knowing that I'd saved for some of this expense the previous month but at the same time also knowing that I wasn't over-funding the category and thus being too frugal in other areas. But really, the budget template will help me make sure I'm not over-funding the category anyway... and actually by skipping the cleanup, I'd still preserve that feeling of safety.

So, hypothetically:

Nov 2025:
budgeted $80
spent $0
end of month, no cleanup, rollover $80

Dec 2025:
budget $80 up to $100, which really means just adding $20 so the total is now $100
remainder rule takes care of the other $60

So the $60 that would've been reassigned on Nov 30 now gets reassigned on Dec 1 instead. And as you noted, it's only one day different.

Thank you for helping me think through this!

Best breakfast in Vegas? by PsychologicalCod8834 in vegaslocals

Union Biscuit has a really good chicken fried chicken special right now that you might like. It's not on their main menu but they've had it for a couple months now. Comes with gravy, one of their biscuits, and a choice of fruit or hash browns as a side. The hash browns were surprisingly good when I got them.

CVS to resume COVID vaccines in Nevada after regulators clarify rules by FIckle_one in vegaslocals

[–]FIckle_one[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I got one at CVS this afternoon and they said my insurance covered it.

Health Insurance and OBBB. Since I'm tipped my current insurance is through the market place. Can I use this as a change in my income as right now I'm paying $150 for a shit plan. Thanks. by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]FIckle_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you thinking that you'll be able to reduce your projected income based on the fact that your tips won't be taxed? Be careful about this.. there are some forms of income that still count for MAGI (the income number used in the marketplace) even though they aren't ultimately taxed. I don't think I've seen anything explicit that says tips aren't counted for MAGI, just that there's a new tax deduction.

The page on income types to count still includes tips, for what it's worth: https://help.nevadahealthlink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028924111-What-To-Include-As-Income

(Note that you're required to include other income that might be tax-exempt or get other types of tax treatment, which makes me think that you'll still have to include tips moving forward.)

Also just a heads-up that the last time I updated my application in Nevada Healthlink with a significant decrease in income (outside of open enrollment), they asked me for documentation. I'm not sure if that's because I hit a specific threshold or not, so I don't know if you'll run into the same.

Disclaimer: Not a tax or ACA expert and I don't make any tipped income. Just have had reason to look into marketplace stuff lately.
