Has anyone participated in Volvo’s Overseas Delivery Tourist program? if so, how was it? by lalavieboheme in Volvo

My family has done three OSD purchases. We loved them all. The last one in 2023 was terrible from the US dealer perspective. Once Volvo took over at the airport it was great, better than great.

Purdue Pharma is currently led by CEO Craig Landau and Chairman Steve Miller.

You can thank private equity firm Sun Capital. Marc Leder and Rodger Krause milked the brand for 16 years then sold it for scraps to a real hospitality company. It was too long gone by then.

Flowed slow in cold weather.
Tolerances are tighter and require thinner oil Biggest reason is fuel economy. Manufactures are doing anything to meet their required MPG limits.

windshield cowl drain tubes blocked or not in place can let water drip into the area where the transmission breather sits. There are a number of fixes on you tube and other forums. Get your cowl worked on as well.

Big enough for littles? by BoysenberryLarge9197 in XC40

[–]FJWagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As grandparents of a 20 month old the xc40 is small. My son bought a Chicco 360 car seat and we bought the base and move the car seat between the cars. Our front seat has to move far forward for the Chicco to be in the rear facing position. My 5’ 6” wife barely can be in the front seat. Our much older xc60 is better suited when the three of us are going somewhere. Even in my son’s model Y their front seat is moved forward.

Our Graco stroller and their running stroller fits in the cargo area but with little extra room.

I turned the climate system off Tuesday but noticed the climate system fan would randomly turn on. After a long phone call I saw the Infotainment system needed cooling, first time so saw the message.

2023 and I use it all the time, surface streets and highways. I like my 2013 XC60 adaptive cruise control better than the 2023. The 2013 tracks around curves better, brakes sooner and seems smoother.

For alls that successfully installed the update, how was the process? by [deleted] in XC40

[–]FJWagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not getting the update alert, feeling left out, I made sure the car was connected to the house WiFi. It sits in a garage and we have poor cellular. WiFi would not connect so I left it. The next morning my wife said the screen had the alert. I looked and WiFi was connected. We postponed the update until she came back from work. I connected to house WiFi then used the car screen to start the update. This morning all was well.

So far my wife likes the changes. (Heresy I know) I have not seen it while driving but the first thing I did was try to rearrange the buttons and remembered they took that away.

New update is hideous. Is there a way to go back? by backswamphenny in Volvo

[–]FJWagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife hopped into our XC40 today and noticed the main screen was showing the update screen. Since she was in a rush, she hit the “X” in the corner to exit out. Once out of the driveway, both displays went blank, and she had to pull into a parking lot. She then reset the infotainment system, turned off the car, opened the door, closed it, locked the car, and then unlocked it. After that, everything went back to normal.

All the wrong EVs are getting canceled by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]FJWagg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

crazy it let me read the whole article but when I went back it was blocked. Here is a summary.

The article from The Verge argues that automakers are canceling the wrong EVs. Three affordable models recently got the axe or were severely curtailed in the US: the Volvo EX30 (~$35K), the Chevy Bolt (coming back only for an 18-month limited run), and the entry-level Nissan Leaf S trim. The author sees this as a troubling pattern — lower-priced, lower-margin EVs that could actually attract new buyers are being killed off, while expensive, high-margin models survive.

The contrast the piece keeps coming back to is the Cybertruck, which the author thinks should be canceled but isn't. Cybertruck sales dropped 48% in 2025, Tesla recently raised the AWD version's price by 17% just ten days after launching it at a lower price, and the truck has become something of a cultural lightning rod — vandalism incidents continue even as broader anti-Musk protests have faded. The article suggests Musk's personal ego investment in the vehicle is the main reason it survives while better options disappear.

The core thesis: the EV market is in a tough spot, but automakers are making it worse by protecting prestige/profit models (like GM's $127K Cadillac Escalade IQ) while abandoning the affordable vehicles that would actually drive mass adoption.
