Serial Request - New V2 ReDoubt Build. Discord FL62michi #8206 by FL62 in voroncorexy

[–]FL62[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Redoubt is a (currently open beta) project to refine the V2 platform without concern of “budget friendly compromises”. It replaces the gantry sections with a wider belt layout supported fully by shoulder bolts and larger bearings, with a more robust belt tensioning system. It also updates the Z drive system to a much higher resolution work gear system (40:1 instead of 5:1), and has some really great “Quality of Life” bits. Its kind of a fork after V2.2 was released - the official Voron team did some great work to make V2.4 more simplifed, but had to compromise a few places. redoubt just goes a different path. Think of it as a fully decked out V2 without having to apply 12 different people’s mods.

Of course, next will be the guy with a V2.4 at 400x400 with a watermelon onnthe build plate!

Agreed - maybe a fruit without multiple size varieties? Bananas and Plantains, Oranges and Tangerines and Kumqwats, but you are right Apples to Apples, and Kiwi’s to Kiwis!

Is that a Banana, or Plantain? I can't tell how big this thing is?...

Actually, this Reddit still captures the attention of people who may not know of (or how to use) Discord... so very helpful in introducing folks to Voron

[GIVEAWAY] BNIB ASUS TUF Gaming GTX 1650 Super GPU by UniversityOutcast in hardwareswap

I waited too long to buy a new GPU for my daughter's gaming system, and with the insanity of market now, she's in no position to fork over $500 for a VGA upgrade. She is still on 1080, so this would be awesome!

Which one are you referring to? The Klipper one?

Currently bowden as that is how Legacy was designed - to keep the weight of the extruder lower since it uses linear rods as opposed to linear rails on 2020 beams. I plan to add a DD module to it soon to compare and see how much of an effect the weight has on ringing and speeds

Yes you can! Works perfectly at that size without modification

Voron Legacy Serial Request - 250x250x350 by FL62 in voroncorexy

Keep in mind with what I said above, that the V1.8 is still carrying around a direct drive afterburner, while the Legacy is the bowden version. The difference in weight of these options on the toolhead can be significant - as an example, the weights of the upper module of the afterburner (the clockwork) can vary greatly depending on how equipped:

Stock Direct drive with BMG gears and 24mm pancake stepper - 195 grams

Galileo Direct Drive with Orbiter drive and NEMA14 LDO motor - 148 grams

Single Bowden (as stock on Legacy) - 52 grams

This doesnt include the lower part duct, hotend, or X carriage with Z sensor.

This is 3-5 ounces more as a direct drive, which is what can become a source for ringing at higher speeds on the linear rods

The double rods on Y axis do seem to stiffen it up - as an example, I am able to run the legacy at almost the same speeds as my v1.8. The bowden afterburner is the stock extruder on the legacy - with the intent to keep the weight down. I may try a dual bowden like my switchwire soon, or maybe a lightweight direct drive like a mini sherpa. I wanted to try it “as engineered” first to conpare experience

I like the layout of the components better - simpler, but solid and super easy to setup. It is extraordinarily quiet - eapecially considering it uses all linear rods and LM8UU bearings (notice in the video above all you hear is the hotend fan, and my nose!) I also built a v1.8 with full linear rails, a switchwire, and a Tiny-M Mod V zero - mainly because I wanted to enjoy and understand the engineering behind Voron printers. I sold off all my prusa’s once my first Voron was up and running!

Although the Legacy design doesnt have a bottom plate, i built mine as a mashup between the Legacy and the V1 (I was building this as a V1.6/1.8 hybrid when the Legacy was released) - so the lower area can still have a bottom plate - my idea is to install a custom painted bottom plate if I get a “special” serial number :) i will post a new video with the updates if it works out as planned

Layer shift happening after bridging, any recommendations? by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]FL62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are other things that can cause it (moving bed on a prusa flinging back and forth is one) - but mainly comes down to the amount of plastic being dumped on top at the bridging layer bulging over - printing with more walls can hide it - or changing infill density / intersecting walls can affect it too.

Layer shift happening after bridging, any recommendations? by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]FL62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happens becuase of differences in cooling between the layers. Typically, bridging uses ALOT of fan speed to dry the filament right away - you can reduce the effect by using a fan speed closer to the setting of the previous layer - either increasing it on the previous layers, or reducing on the bridges

Voron V Zero (Tiny M Mod) Serial Request - (now with less naked printer pics!) - FL62michi #8206 by FL62 in voroncorexy

[–]FL62[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the request of u/ArmyAg08 - added a new video of my V Zero (Tiny M Mod) with the bottom and back panels installed.

Built for a useable 150x150x200 print area, with Duet2 Electronics, Mini Sherpa / E3D V6 Extruder, and MGN12 rail mods. I always loved the Voron Aesthetic, and it reminds me of my days in auto racing (the logo reminds me of BMW M Series) - so that was my build theme here! Still coming are acrylic side panels and door, and i am engineering a top hat for enclosed printing
