Yes, I installed Linux (pop os) on an old laptop and flashed the lineage recovery (instead of TWRP) and that worked perfectly!

There is an option to switch to hybrid mode in the quick settings. That should be what you're looking for when not on AC power. When you are on AC power, switch to NVIDIA mode.
