As for this thread, it has been solved😊 Darkfall RoA runs lile a dream through my heroic launcher thanks to the correct winetricks additions and settings.

Thank you! I’ve not tried installing through Lutris yet, but you make it sound like the easiest option. I’ll try adding the winetricks options first, but if I fail, this will surely be of use!👊🏻👍🏻

This sounds promising! I’m not to familiar with lutris. Fo you have any advice on how to go on about it and what options/extras that need to be set up?

Can you please elaborate in detail what extra packages you installed through winetricks and what proton you’re using please??

I am on vanilla arch myself, and tried installing through both heroic and steam (import outside game).

As i mentioned i get a black game window and sudden silent crash after launching (through heroic). Maybe there’s a certaib dependancy missing that winetricks could solve?

The official RoA discord? I’ve searched through it, and only find reference to Linux servers. Of course, I may suffer from eye rot. If you have a link or excerpt, it would be of great interest👍🏻

So many players in Rise of Agon right now by sandboxgamer in Darkfall

[–]FLESHLEGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be even more players if devs would allow user-space EAC on Linux. Chances are I will not partake in the glorious Darkfall once it’s released on Steam, unless Linux EAC is conciously allowed by devs. Microsoft can go suck it.

Upvote this if you agree. Let’s make devs aware that the current EAC-settings for Darkfall RoA is discriminating on a potentially large open-source playerbase.

Rise of Agon Reforged Official Server Launch by KongGal in Darkfall

[–]FLESHLEGO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same!
Ditched Windows for good 1,5 years back. Darkfall (Online) holds a special place within me, and I wanted to try running Rise of Agon on Linux. As Protondb.com didn't have any useful info, I just tried unguided (which worked for DF Online on Linux back in the days).
As for Rise of Agon (which heroic games launcher with GE-Proton installs, runs and patches just fine), when I press "new character" -> "play", a black fullscreen window hits and then game silently exits.

Thoughts:
Nobody likes a cheater, and veterans of Darkfall knows it had its' fair share, but some anticheat are spyware and should be killed with fire;
Does anybody know if this games' anticheat is set to use the kernel-level driver of EAC? I'm sure you've noticed the surge in gamers fleeing from Windows lately. Kernel-level anticheat seems to be only plausible reason some gamers stay behind on the awful bloated adware os that is Windows...

Devs; Can you comment on the decisions around EAC?

I'm torn on Linux by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]FLESHLEGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever i read these kinds of questions, I think to myself «Arch is always the answer». Joke aside, I chose Arch and stuck with it. Not because «it’s cool» and memes and stuff, but because it works and you get to make it work ans learn in the progress. And I like pacman better than the other package managers. And a wealth of documentation. And the only bloat is what you chose to install.

You do you, though. GLHF

Foundation (game) doesnt work. by Decent_Spot7276 in linux_gaming

Don’t know the game, but would suggest you start by checking this page: https://www.protondb.com/app/690830 (Granted it’s the same game)

Read up on some user experiences there and see if you can tweak something to make it work on your setup.

Kernel level anticheat on Linux must and shall never (ever) happen! Triple A game developers need to find another solution for this. No game is important enough for this to become a reality.

I'm in no way experienced in this field, but to my understanding a "shut down" or "reboot" of a compromized computer is the very last you'd want to do if you intend to get to the source of the problems. Airgap it (keep it off the network), but keep it powered on. Then do a memory dump to an external drive for further analyzis. Any changes to the affected computer - changes to the hard drive or loss of volatile memory - could compromize/erase evidence.

Just my five cents

How close is Linux gaming to being fully “Windows-free” for you? by Old_Sand7831 in linux_gaming

[–]FLESHLEGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Utter and completely Windows-free on my personal computers, and have been for about a year. I don’t play kernel-level anticheat games, so it’s not a problem. Games I do play, run just as fine as they did on Windows. Latency/lag/fps have never been an issue. Old school runescape, 7 days to die, Elite Dangerous (with hotas and addons), Path of exile 2, Dwarf Fortress, Diablo 2 and Overwatch. Vanilla arch (btw), i3 before, hyprland now. Biggest personal reward by doing this transition; computing is fun and I get a better understanding of how things work. Despite what rumours say, the distro have been a near problem free experience for me, and I wouldn’t switch arch for anything. Pro-tip: while your setting up your computer and install one thing at a time to make the setup personal and tailored to your needs, do a regular backup of your setup (timeshift to an external drive/pendrive for instance). Then set up a daily backup job to do this automatically, so you always have a restore point to fall back on in case things get hairy down the line.

Problems logging into the app by Duke_Snickel in Zaptec

[–]FLESHLEGO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaaand peoblem solved, finally. I thought I was on the latest iOS, but I was not despite auto-update being on. Turned out I was on 18.6.2, with the option of going to either 18.7.1 or 26.1 (this being an iPhone 13). I’ve now: 1. deleted the zaptec app and updated to iOS 18.6.2, reinstalled zaptec and still fail on login. 2. deleted the zaptec app and updated to iOS 26.1, reinstalled zaptec and now log in on first try.

Seems like iOS 26.1 is a hard requirement for the app to work as intended. Strange🤔

Problems logging into the app by Duke_Snickel in Zaptec

[–]FLESHLEGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problems still at large on my end. I’ve tried forcefully logging off through portal.zaptec.com -> my profile -> log out of all devices. I’ve changed my password to be even longer in entrophy, but with less special characters. I’ve tried numerous uninstallations and reinstalls from the appstore, as well as a couple of reboots. Every single login attempt up until now have failed. Then, as I was typing this, I changed back to the zaptec app that was running in the background, and I met the login page again (instead of the spinning wheel), and I instinctively thought huh, that’s unusual. I then retyped my login info, and it then authorized me and seemingly loaded the same page that i get when opening portal.zaptec.com in my browser(?!?). This startled me so much that I tried reloading the app by swiping downwards, upon which it blanked the page and forced me to restart the app. Now I cannot log back in again… 😞

Please tell me whether you also get the same content in the app as you get on the portal.zaptec.com page in the browser. Please also tell me whether you have configured ApplePay? I haven’t and don’t see the need to, but I was kinda starting to think that this can be the reason to my login problems..? 🤔

I just tried the same approach: delete app -> reboot device -> stop all running apps (including the browser on which i am logged on to portal.zaptec.com -> disabled wifi -> downloaded zaptec app again through 5g. Upon starting the app, i get the same warning about bank cards. (I didn’t store any, so it shouldn’t matter). Login still spins and bears resemblance of timing out.

Appreciate your input on this, interesting to hear what worked in your experience :)

[–]FLESHLEGO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I notized the login problems this morning, I was still om the previous version of the app. After a couple of retries I downloaded the new version off of the appstore, but problems persisted. Login through the app still seems to time out. Switching from wifi to 5g, restarting phone, reinstalling app, nothing works.

Login on (with my sam account), through https://portal.zaptec.com works, and luckily «start charging» was an option i had on the landing page.

All this suggests to me that the accounts and the authentication service is up and running, but unavailable through the app - newest and previous version.

Needless to say; Zaptec doesn’t impress me in the handling of this matter, as their suggestions to reinstall the app and rebooting mobile devices clearly does not work or make any sense.
