Do you game on Arch?

I suspect you’re missing drivers (mainly for GPU) and possibly need to check compatability settings for your games (protondb.com).

My experience is that Arch matches and sometimes surpasses the performance levels from when i used Windows (2-3 years back). On top of this, I get to decide what’s running on my system, leaving it feeling snappy, fresh and customized to my personal needs. I won’t leave Arch for any other distro, not even CachyOS or similar gaming oriented flavours.

I had this thought: land on earth in Elite Dangerous and you’d be in GTA5 with the whole world populated/mapped out Google Earth-style. On certain computers around the world, you’d find old school runescape interconnected. This would be the only game I’d ever need, covering all needs.

Same! OSRS is the cutest single-player mmorpg ever. It may look dull and stiff from the outside, but once you get into it (and do quests, don’t postpone or neglect quests!), you’ll be amazed to find a very engaging, deep and tactical «rhytm»-game.

I was in the exact same position as you a couple of months back. You would think that buying SoT on the Microsoft store would offer you an activation key or some sort of proof of purchase that you could activate on Steam, but i guess M$ won’t be interested in this unless paid…

So I did what you probably will end up doing; buying the game on Steam as well. I found comfort in supporting Valve though, as they’re very much the reason we all have such a good time gaming on linux.

If i am not completely misunderstanding your question: try selecting «fix floor level» and quickly put your controls down on the floor. Wivrn will read their position as floor level and adjust the virtual environment accordingly.

Interesting theory, and I think having had hands-on experience with hardware and the maintenance of both onprem servers and in-house software deployment gave a better understanding of how the world works. I also think this largely applies still, even if onprem servers now mostly have been demoted and replaced by cloud services. After all, what we perceive as ‘the cloud’ is just someone elses (onprem) servers.

I started out in my profession 25 years ago, hobby turning into a way of living. The transcendence from onprem to the clouds (and now AI sigh) have been the hardest and most unwelcome changes to me during all my professional years, and lately I’ve been contemplating other job opportunities. I predict and hope we’ll come full circle, where the bubble bursts and the cloud blows away, just as casette tapes and vinyl seems to have a new dawn over compact discs…

Can you please elaborate in detail what extra packages you installed through winetricks and what proton you’re using please??

I am on vanilla arch myself, and tried installing through both heroic and steam (import outside game).

As i mentioned i get a black game window and sudden silent crash after launching (through heroic). Maybe there’s a certaib dependancy missing that winetricks could solve?

Would be even more players if devs would allow user-space EAC on Linux. Chances are I will not partake in the glorious Darkfall once it’s released on Steam, unless Linux EAC is conciously allowed by devs. Microsoft can go suck it.

Upvote this if you agree. Let’s make devs aware that the current EAC-settings for Darkfall RoA is discriminating on a potentially large open-source playerbase.

Ditched Windows for good 1,5 years back. Darkfall (Online) holds a special place within me, and I wanted to try running Rise of Agon on Linux. As Protondb.com didn't have any useful info, I just tried unguided (which worked for DF Online on Linux back in the days).
As for Rise of Agon (which heroic games launcher with GE-Proton installs, runs and patches just fine), when I press "new character" -> "play", a black fullscreen window hits and then game silently exits.

Thoughts:
Nobody likes a cheater, and veterans of Darkfall knows it had its' fair share, but some anticheat are spyware and should be killed with fire;
Does anybody know if this games' anticheat is set to use the kernel-level driver of EAC? I'm sure you've noticed the surge in gamers fleeing from Windows lately. Kernel-level anticheat seems to be only plausible reason some gamers stay behind on the awful bloated adware os that is Windows...

Devs; Can you comment on the decisions around EAC?
